Aim

Help us raise funds for urgent roof repairs at Ealing's only theatre. If we hit £50k in donations, our generous donor will match to £100k!

Our roof is in urgent need of repair! As Ealing’s only theatre, we need your help to stay open to our local community and keep our members and visitors safe and dry. Thanks to an anonymous donor, any donation you make here will be doubled, up to a potential total of £100,000 if we hit our target – a huge step towards a new roof! If you want to help stop it raining inside The Questors Theatre, please donate now.

What is The Questors Theatre?

We are a community theatre in the heart of Ealing, West London. Originally founded by a group of keen amateur actors in 1929, almost 100 years later we produce dozens of our own shows every year and host touring companies, live music and comedy, as well as offering acting training for adults and children. Our site is part of the cultural life of Ealing as a venue for events like the Borough of Ealing Art Trail (BEAT) and the Ealing Book Festival, as well as regular creative and wellness activities for people of all ages and needs. We are a registered charity and receive no council or government funding.

How old is the roof?

The Questors purchased the Mattock Lane site in 1952 and completed construction in 1964. The Shaw rehearsal room was built in 1958, and the Studio was built in 1960, making these parts of the roof almost 70 years old. The roof of our Playhouse theatre was replaced in recent years and now the rest of the roof covering the Studio theatre, rehearsal rooms and workshop has come to the end of its life and leaks badly during and after rainfall.

What are the Studio and rehearsal rooms used for?

Our Studio theatre hosts at least 9 in-house productions and over 30 visiting companies per year. The rehearsal rooms are filled daily with community activities including dance and yoga classes, choir rehearsals, literature and poetry groups, parent and baby activities, music therapy classes and more, as well as our own in-house rehearsals and youth theatre classes.

What has been the impact of the leaking roof?

Activities have had to be moved or cancelled, audience seats have been unavailable during performances due to leaks, and our equipment, flooring and furniture have been damaged.

There is a real risk that future performances and activities will have to be cancelled, resulting a loss of accessible spaces for the local community and in lost revenue for the theatre.

How can I help?

We are planning to start essential roof repairs from Summer 2026 and need your support to fund the project and secure our theatre’s future. We are lucky enough to have an anonymous donor who will match donations up to £50,000, which would give us a much needed £100,000 towards the project. If you are eligible, you can also add Gift Aid to make your donation go even further. Please also help us by sharing this page and spreading the word.

What happens if we don’t hit the target?

All the funds donated will still go towards our roof repair but if we don’t achieve £50,000 we will miss out on the full matched funding. Please help us reach our target so we can keep our theatre open and keep everyone dry!

Where will my donation go?

All donations will go towards the repair of our roof and the preservation of our building. We will provide updates on this page as to the progress of the repairs.
