Aim
Joel & Kim would like your support to help The Passing Shot flourish in 2022.
We began The Passing Shot as Joel & Kim in the Summer of 2018. Back then we jumped in feet first, both new to podcasting, and created those early recordings from our bedrooms in London and Mallorca (with a fair few 'umms and ahhhhs' too!).
Fast forward 3 and a half years, and we’re still here developing our craft to deliver a tennis podcast that offers a fresh and distinctive serve to the category.
And so far the results have been fantastic. We've been getting great feedback and have grown our listenership year on year so we know we're doing something right.
And for us, that’s about building a tennis show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, fronted by personable & passionate fans not afraid of putting their views across (and making the odd terrible prediction along the way!).
In 2021, we asked listeners for the very first time to back us and help bring this ambition to life. To our amazement, many of you answered the call and we raised over £500 which helped us deliver:
- Over 80+ episodes published - most ever in one season
- 'Round by round' coverage of all Grand Slams
- Two new interview-based series - ‘Passing Shot meets…’ and ‘The Book Club’
- New podcast branding and series theme
And now as we look forward to 2022, we are asking our listeners once again to help Joel & Kim at Passing Shot HQ by contributing to our crowdfund.
Funding is crucial because we are self-funded (i.e. we cover all the costs of production ourselves) and so any funds will help ensure the show’s future and offer tennis fans an alternative voice to traditional tennis media.
We’re not bothered about dog sponsorships. We just like to talk tennis and investing in us would go a long way to help us keep talking, enabling our local operation to thrive globally.
And with spectating live tennis a possibility once again, we’d love to invest more in our live production for when we are at events. This means having the equipment to record quality shows ‘on the go’ out and about - instead of relying on WhatsApp voice notes to get us through!
