Aim

Our aim is to open a zero waste shop in Stourbridge. Selling loose dried food & a refill station for cleaning & toiletry products,

We are a small family run business setting up a zero waste shop in Stourbridge.

After trying to live as plastic free as possible for the past year, buying fresh fruit and vegetables in the local market and using our own containers at the butchers, it became more difficult to source other items such as pasta, rice ect without travelling further afield. That's where my idea began to open the first zero waste shop in Stourbridge and the company Eco Maniax was born!

What are Eco Maniax doing now?

We will shortly be taking over a unit in the Ryemarket and hope to open at the end of November. The funding for this has mostly come from our own savings as this  shop is something we are passionate about & believe will work. This will fund the shop refurb, shop fittings, sineage, rent and the initial stock etc.

What will we be selling?

We will be selling a range of loose dried foods, organic where possible, simply bring an empty container, weigh it empty so you don't pay for the container weight, fill with the amout to you need, weigh again, print another label with the correct amount and pay! Also we will be stocking refills for laundry liquid, fabric conditioners, shampoos, body products etc, all delivered to us and dispensed in large drums that when empty are collected, cleaned, refilled and returned to us. That really is zero waste! We will also have a range of plastic free household items, including reusable cups, bamboo toothbrushes, kitchenware and sanitary products to name a few. We also will have space in the shop to allow local artisans to showcase their products and offer facilities for a pop up space to be used. There will also be workshops on subjects such as upcyling and making your own washing powder!

Why Crowdfunding?

OK, so as I've said, we've put our savings towards the set up of the business and the shop. We'd really like a couple of big expense items to make the shopping experience quicker and easier for you, the customer, and also keep our prices down as we really want to keep prices competitive. These are:

  • · Self serve zero waste scales and till system - around £4000
  • · Gravity dispensers to make buying loose food items less messy and more hygienic. These are around £50 each.

Thanks for reading this and we really are grateful for any support. If you have any further questions or just fancy a chat then contact us on: [email protected]
