Zero Signal: A Low-Budget Apocalyptic Short Film

Aim

My aim is to prove that a powerful, cinematic movie doesn't need a Hollywood budget — just heart, grit, and a good storyline.

The Movie:
Zero Signal is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi short film about a lone soldier who emerges from total isolation to find the world gone silent — only to discover, in the film's final moments, that they might not be as alone as they think.

This is Part One of a planned series, built entirely on a self/crowd-funded, low-budget model: low paid cast, low price/free rented locations, no studio backing — just a Sony A6600, a gimbal, a fog machine, and a willingness to shoot on hillsides, in abandoned buildings, and wherever else i can get permission to film. What i lack in budget, i am making up for with resourceful, VFX-driven storytelling and a genuinely collaborative, beginner-friendly set for everyone involved.

I have already hired a really amazing editor for the job whichis going to add alot more production value to the movie.

Filming is set to begin September 25th, 2026, with a small, dedicated volunteer crew and cast working purely for the love of the project and the portfolio it will give them.

Spective Studios:
Spective Studios is my website that i will be showcasing my journey on. Spective Studios is the filming business i want to build from this movie and eventually become one of the big names in the industry for independent films.

You will also see our "Get Involved" section where we will be putting outcasting calls. This feature will never be removed, Spective Studios will always attempt to hire new cast and crew over high end actors and crew as my goal is to give the underdogs a chance to showcase their talents and this will be a theme throughout all my future projects

What i am raising funds for:

• Essential kit — spare batteries, memory cards, extra audio gear.
• Travel/fuel costs to and from locations for cast and crew.
• Festival submission fees once the film is finished.
• Location hire fees where needed.
• Crew/Editor Pay.
• Actor/Actress Pay.

I am 1 man trying to start a massive task alone to give people a chance at building something amazing for the film industry. I do not have alot of money and is why i am currently seeking volunteers but it would be nice to be able to pay the people involved. That was my main premise behind making this. Equipment and fees i can mostly pay for myself but being able to also pay cast and crew would feel so good to show appreciation.

Every bit of money raised goes directly back into making Zero Signal look and sound as good as it possibly can, and into giving our volunteer cast and crew — many of whom are building their very first showreel — the best possible experience and result to put their name to aswell as a bit of payment for the help. All cast and crew will be earning royalties if any come from the movie even if this crowdfunding fails..

No money will be going directly into my pocket. That is not my aim. My aim is to use every penny of donations and even my own money to fun this short movie series, which will end up being a complete series on YouTube for people to watch for free.
