Aim
To raise money to cover expenses for completion of walking from John O'Groats to Lands End on behalf of AberNecessities.
My names Zander Thornton, from Aberdeen. I've decided to take on one of the biggest challenges of my life - in January 2025 I'll commence the longest walk of my life, I'll set off from John O'Groats with the destination being Lands End. The distance is debatable, I see some people walking over 1400 miles by road, this is probably how I will do the full journey, thats not 100% confirmed at the moment.
I didn't have the best of childhoods, my Dad was an alcoholic, addict, who caused nothing but pain in my life. My mum suffered soo much abuse both physically and verbally. At one point I lived in a woman's refuge when I was in 1st Year, my dad rubbed my own excrement in my face after I didn't make it to the toilet and soiled my pants.
My mum could have been doing with soo much help through those horrible times, my dad died when I was 13 I think, I was happy about it, I still am.
Since April 2021 I've been sober of alcohol and cocaine, I've tried to turn my life round as much as possible, but I'm suffering with major depression, anxiety, PTSD. I will be made homeless in January 2025 and I am going bankrupt.
This walk is to raise as much funds as possible to ensure that AberNecessities can continue to do the unbelievable work they do already in the local community.
I'll be documenting the whole thing on social media, and telling my own story along the way.
It's going to cost around £5,000 for me to complete the challenge, it will take me around 3 months. I personally have £1485 that I am putting towards the challenge, that is EVERY PENNY that I have, and that is planned that I will have over the full course of the challenge.
If I have done anything nice for you, or your family over my lifetime, you believe in me, and what I am trying to achieve, I need you to donate the value equivalent of 1 hot drink = £5.
I do not want anyone donating anymore than that, save the real money for the end of the challenge, that fund will be managed by AberNecessities.
No one NEEDS to donate to this, I cannot leave on this challenge thinking that I don't have enough money for food and shelter.
I'm going to really push myself to get this done as quickly as possible.
