I am standing as an Independent against Ed Davey at the next general election to fight for justice for sub-postmasters

by Yvonne Tracey in New Malden, Greater London, United Kingdom

 New stretch target

The more money we can raise, the more we can do. Ed Davey and the Lib Dems will spend over £20,000 fighting this seat, and to match the weight of his campaign requires a big budget. Every penny raised will go towards campaign expenses - all members of my campaign team are volunteers.

I have lived in New Malden all of my life. I was born in Potters Grove, and now live just one street away in South Park Grove! I raised my family in New Malden, and have served residents in many different ways over the years.

When my two daughters were at The Mount (now Kings Oak) in the 1980s, I was a school governor there. I spent over three decades serving residents over the counter in the Post Office - a few years at Kingston’s old Post Office and the vast majority as Deputy Postmistress at New Malden Post Office. And for the last year I have had the honour and privelege of serving my neighbours as one of their local Independent councillors in Green Lane and St James Ward.

I never thought I’d stand for Parliament - but I could not stand back and let our current MP and former Postal Minister Ed Davey stand again unchallenged after how he treated former sub-postmasters, in what the public now know to be the biggest miscarriage of justice in British history.

Hundreds - if not thousands - of sub-postmasters have had their lives destroyed by the Post Office. Their confidence is shot, and they just want justice. I’m standing to bring that justice that they long deserve.

In Tolworth, sub-postmaster Sathyan Shiju lost his home, his business and attempted suicide on more than one occasion. He tried three times to get in touch with Sir Ed and every time he was turned away, refused or ignored.

We need an MP who will never ignore their constituents, who will always stand up for the people - not the powerful. I’m standing as a resident - not a politician - to put honesty and integrity back into this election, and fight tirelessly for justice once and for all for my former colleagues. I hope I can count on your support.

How your donation will help

  • £5 could buy 50 posters to go up in people’s windows
  • £50 could buy 2000 leaflets to deliver through homes across Kingston and Surbiton
  • £100 could pay for 3,000 letters printed, stuffed and sealed for delivery in Kingston and Surbiton.
  • £500 could pay the whole deposit for Yvonne's bid for MP.
  • £1500 could pay for Yvonne's election address delivered by the Royal Mail to all electors in the constituency.

Whatever you can donate, big or small, it will be very much appreciated. My team are all volunteers, and every penny will be spent on campaign expenses.
