We want to be able to extend our hours off delivery to support young people with a warm safe space, while providing them with a meal.
The Hub helps young people to find independence, develop confidence and skills that will help them in later life, allowing them to reach their full potential. It provides a drop-in facility, mentoring, detached youth work and open access clubs. Providing key support when children and young people need it most. Specialist support groups include a youth council, gaming group, music tuition, art group, outreach and detached youth work, multi sports sessions and a group for the LGBTQ+ community. Mental health support is offered, and the demand for this aspect of The Hub’s work has increased dramatically through the effects of the Covid-19 and cost of living crisis.

The hub works with over 200 young people in the community each week, through our project we support the wider community by hosting inter generations meals and activities, working with Age UK to support with an allotment garden as well as doing community give back, by support with activities such as litter picks. Through the work we under take we engage with multiple community needs.

We are seeing a growing number of young people who are struggling with Food and fuel poverty. Recently a young person attend a session who had a stolen vape on them, when ask why, they explained they needed to sell it to buy food for his family that night. We want to expand our offer to ensure we can provide a warmer space for longer hours in the week and while there be able to provide them with a meal.

The money will be spent to provide hot meals for young people at all our sessions, a hot meal for a young person is costed out at £4.50 per person. Along side providing the hot meal we want to offer them a food parcel to support their wider family, a food parcel is costed out at £20 per family.
We would also like to use the funding to support towards our energy bills to we can offer a warm space for longer in the day for young people.
