Youth Development: Essential Equipment Fund

Aim
We are raising funds to buy new helmets, ensuring our youth players can train safely and compete. Help us remove barriers to the sport!
Who are we?
We are the Essex Tridents, an American Football organization in Essex. Born from the merger of the Essex Spartans and East Essex Sabres, we carry a legacy of grit, teamwork, and community spirit. Based at our new home at Westcliff RFC, we provide a structured environment for athletes of all ages to learn the sport, from our Youth program (ages 13–17) to our Senior roster. We are 100% volunteer-led and dedicated to making gridiron football accessible to everyone in our county.
Why are we crowdfunding?
American Football is an incredible sport for building character and discipline, but it is expensive to play. To keep our youth players safe and ensure that financial background is never a barrier to participation, we provide all the essential protective contact gear.
Currently, our youth equipment stock is reaching the end of its lifespan. To grow the team and prepare for competitive fixtures, we need to invest in high-quality, modern safety gear. This project is part of the Sport England Movement Fund, meaning if we raise our half of the target from the community, Sport England will match it to help us reach our goal!
How we’ll spend the money raised
We need to raise a total of £6,900 to fully kit out our youth squad. Every penny raised (plus the Sport England match-funding) will be spent on protective equipment primarily Helmets
By hitting this target, we ensure that we will have 20-25 helmets for the next 10 years.
Community impact
For a youth player to purchase their own equipment, the cost can easily exceed £500, a massive investment for a kit they are likely to outgrow in just a few seasons. We aim to completely remove this financial barrier, ensuring that no young person is sidelined because of the price of safety gear. By providing the kit ourselves, we make it possible for any new player to get involved in the sport, regardless of their background or budget.
