Youth Club Mural Project

Aim
To work with local artists and young people to create a mural inside of Hythe Youth Club on the themes of Community and Happiness.
Hythe Youth Club has been in existence since the 1950s and in the current building since the early 2000s. The centre is run by Project Salus CIC who deliver youth clubs, therapy sessions and community projects on site. We are seeking to expand the work we do in Hythe with our newly appointed Youth and Community Development Worker and will be soon delivering a programme for young people not in education or employment with plans for a community allotment and Forest School in the near future.
As part of our plans to expand and improve our delivery, we are seeking funding to redecorate the centre and make essential repairs and improvements. Redecorating will breathe new life into the building, brightening it up and improving the look and feel for all users.
We would like to include a large mural in our main club room as part of these improvements. This mural will be designed in consultation with young people and other stakeholders by a local artist. The above image is by the same artist we are seeking to use, El Davo, who is from Hythe. The theme of this mural will be 'Community and Happiness'.
The young people who are involved in this project will gain valuable skills and experience that may help to build their confidence and self-esteem and improve their future prospects. We also hope that the improved aesthetics of the centre will have a positive benefit on all our users.
