YOUR CAFE NEEDS YOU!
The Air Raid Shelter Cafe and Tea Room, located in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK was created in 2018 to recognise and pay tribute the efforts and sacrifices made by thousands of families throughout the War years of the 1940s.
Four years later in 2022 and the cafe has a thriving all age community of visitors from throughout the county and beyond. At the Air Raid Shelter Cafe and Tea room, our guests can dine in our evacuee train carriage, Maude our beloved Morris SE, model of car', 1940s front room or the air raid shelter itself! Equally visitors can honour all those who fought in the war at the Thankyou Wall displaying the heroism of our local servicemen and or women interact with the many WW2 artefacts we have on display. After enjoying the delights of a Tommy's or Landgirls breakfast or perhaps the spread of an Afternoon Cream Tea, visitors can purchase retro sweets and other memorabilia from the cafe's 1940s gift shop.
But... YOUR CAFE NEEDS YOU!
The cafe is located in a High Wycombe shopping centre which will be completely redeveloped in 2024.
In 2018, the cafe was only supposed to be open as a temporary pop up cafe for six months but due to our success in attracting visitors from out of area, we were given various lease extensions. The latest being until January 2024.
We desperately want to remain open, but despite never receiving any facility improvements from the centre owners due to their redevelopment plans, our inspection status has recently changed from temporary to permanent. This means that without significant financial investment, we face the sad prospect of having to close as we must complete urgent works in order to comply with the permanent status regulations.
YOUR CAFE NEEDS YOU!
We need to raise at least £1500 for drainage, plumbing, lighting and electrical improvements.
We know that we couldn't be asking at a worse time with every household facing inreased costs but hope that you may find a way to support the Air Raid Shelter Cafe and Tea Room, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK by giving on our Crowdfunding page.
We love our customers and want to acknowledge your financial support so we are offering two ways to do that...
1. Support the cafe for any amount and your name and donation date will be placed in our crowdfunding book which is available to read in the cafe.
2. As well as appearing in our crowd funding book, you may wish to change your donation into a voucher at the cafe that can be redeemed for food and drink. Perhaps it can be a gift for a family member or friend?

- Hi everyone, thank you for taking the time to look at our project. We have been overwhelmed with messages of support. We still have a long way to go and not much time left but we have kindly been offered some plumbing equipment which means we are able to reduce our target by a little, which hopefully will give us a better chance of reaching it
