Aim

We are raising money to help us publish and print 'You, Me & ADHD', an activity book that celebrates ADHD.

There is no doubt that having ADHD can be challenging, but when Izzy and I work with young people, families and schools we strive to make sure that anyone with, or connected to, ADHD recognises its positive attributes too.

And that's why we've written our book: You, Me & ADHD - Celebrating ADHD through positive management, mindfulness and understanding.

THE STORY BEHIND THE BOOK

With this book, I want to give children and their grown ups tools, exercises and relatable experiences that will flip their perceptions upside down and show them how they can start viewing ADHD as a superpower, not a super-pain.

The book is written from Izzy's point of view (with a little help from me) because she knows exactly what it's like to have ADHD. She's fantastically clever at some things and can achieve pretty much anything when she puts her mind to it, but she often finds it hard to concentrate or to stop her mind from wandering.

Using Izzy's experiences as a basis for the activities and anecdotes throughout the book helps young people to empathise with and understand what is being said. Similarly to when I'm working one-on-one, using Izzy as a support, it also relieves any pressure the reader might feel and provides a sense of comfort knowing that, actually, it's okay to be this way.

WHAT THE BOOK WILL CONTAIN

You, Me and ADHD contains a combination of tried and tested activities and exercises, designed to help young people with ADHD recognise their special traits and learn how to manage them.

The book itself is bright and colourful, and has been specially designed to capture the attention of ADHD readers - while not being too distracting.

With over 40, photocopiable pages, the book can be used again-and-again by individuals or in a small group setting. It also comes with parent/teacher notes for each section.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

Although Izzy and I have written our book, we're now at the stage where we need to hire some professionals to help us make it the best it can be. We also want to ensure that we're able to keep the retail price down and make it accessible for as many people as possible.

If successful, the money we raise will pay for:

Illustrations
Book design
Publishing (editing, proofreading, etc.)
Marketing
Printing
Crowdfunding fees

REWARDS

Now we're getting to the good bit!

We are SO excited about the rewards we've got lined up for you, and we've made sure there is something to suit any budget.

We're also giving everyone who pledges the chance to nominate a charity who will receive a percentage share of the profits in our first year of publication (10%).

BUT if you can't pledge, that's absolutely fine... all we ask is that you consider sharing the campaign so that we can reach as many people as possible and get this valuable book into the hands of children who really do need it.

Best wishes, and many thanks, Chris (& Izzy)
