We are funding a short film that sheds light on the importance of the PRU and social care systems in the UK.
Molly is 15, and Molly has had it rough. After her mum has been arrested, she finds herself searching for meaning and importance to life. All Molly wants is to be important - to matter. And when she finds herself pregnant, she feels as though a solution has been dropped into her lap.
With her school not knowing what to do with her, she has been sent to the local Pupil Referral Unit school for alternative education. The story shows her often rocky relationship with her social worker, family, and classmates, as she is thrust into a new way of life - a life that puts her in the centre for once.
You Make Me Matter aims to shed light on the systems and people in our society that are so needed for vulnerable young people but so undervalued. The film has also been written in collaboration with staff at the Manchester Secondary PRU schools. We are now raising money to help fund our production costs and get the film to audiences.
