13th March 2020IMPORTANT UPDATE: What coronavirus means for The Big Meal & last 10 days push!!
We have 4 key things to share with you today...
#1: We need to postpone the Big Meal Together
Due to the heightened risk presented by COVID-19 to our community’s health, we understand we will need to postpone & reschedule the Big Meal Together. This means that we will no longer hold the get together on Sat 18th April 2020. However, we will reschedule the event at a later date, once the threat of illness has passed.
We understand that this is sad news and a big disappointment in a difficult time, but our community’s health is the most important thing for us to consider.
#2: We will do some activities online on 18th April 2020
We’re currently getting our heads together to plan some nice activities for everyone to get involved with online on Sat 18th April. These might be things like recipe swaps on social media, mini-meals together in your own homes, or workshops via online platforms - if you have ideas you’d like to add, please do get in touch. We want to make sure that we still use this time to find a way to celebrate and say “thank you” to all the people from outside the UK who live here in Plymouth.
#3: We will still run the Big Meal Together in future & still want to hit our crowdfunding target
We are positive that we will run the Big Meal Together event as planned at a later date. This means that we still need to hit our crowdfunding target to raise the funds to cover these costs. Our venue has been very understanding, and are excited for us to reschedule the Big Meal Together as soon as possible when things go back to normal here in Plymouth.
It’s still very important that we reach our final target before the deadline of 25th March 2020. Our campaign is an “All or Nothing” project which means we don’t receive ANY of the funds you have pledged if we don’t hit the target. Luckily, that gives us around 10 days to raise the last £500 of our target. We are SO CLOSE NOW and you can help us to do this by telling your friends about the campaign & helping us to reach as many new backers as possible.

#4: We will come together again when the threat around illness has passed
We will do everything we can to make sure all the positive energy generated around the Big Meal Together will not go to waste. The Big Meal Together will happen - one way or another, at some point!!!
Please stay safe & continue to look after each other - we wish you all good health and peace of mind in these difficult times. Here’s some really nice advice from Eden Project Communities…
With all our love & good wishes,
Sol & Marcella, Rachel.
