You Are More Than Welcome - A Big Meal Together

Hi everyone, 

We just wanted to drop you a line to share how happy we are that the campaign for You Are More Than Welcome: A Big Meal Together is off to such a strong start! Thank you all so much for backing our idea and for getting involved by pledging, sharing & supporting what we are doing. As we write this, we have just now reached £1,000 of our £1,650 target - which is really amazing!

Reading your comments on the project page today has really filled up with hope & excitement for the Big Meal Together event, and we are feeling the love, big time!!!

Mini Challenge

We have a mini-challenge for you, our wonderful backers… We’d love to have 100 supporters on board by the end of this weekend. It’s very easy for people to pledge, and people don’t have to make a huge pledge, just £2. At the moment, we have 76 backers, so we think that getting to 100 shouldn’t be too tricky - but we need your help!

How to get involved:

If you’d like to help us with the 100 backers mini-challenge, you could do one of the following things:

    •    Send someone you know personally a text message, DM, WhatsApp or a tweet, with a link to our crowdfunder, telling them about our Big Meal Together project & how to pledge

    •    Tell someone you work with about our Big Meal Together project & tell them about the difference backing our campaign makes for people from outside the UK who live here in Plymouth

    •    Make a post on Facebook telling people that you’re taking part in our 100 backers mini-challenge and nominate a few of your friends to take part!

There are still 18 days to go during the campaign, so plenty of time to get other people you know involved - every SHARE, TWEET & RECOMMENDATION is really valuable to us and gets us closer to reaching our next target.

Volunteers:

We’ve also started to get lots of people contacting us to volunteer their time & support for the project - by running workshops, donating materials, and offering to help with meal prep / setup / wash-up duties.

If you’d like to join us as a volunteer, please get in touch via [email protected] and tell us:

- Your name & phone number

- When you’d like to volunteer (ie on the day of the event, or in the run up to the event, or both)

- What you’d be happy to help with

- And if there are specific times you are available / not available

We'd also like to say a special thank you to Plymouth Play Scrapstore who have got in touch to support the project by providing lots of free reclaimed materials for our workshops. If you don't know about the Scrapstore already, they are a great not-for-profit membership organisation who provides a range of services for people of all ages and interests - it's not just for kids! Please check their fb page for opening times & pop in to see the kinds of things they have going on every week.
