I’ll be working with the team from the video production company: ‘Production Haus Ltd’ to make this dream a reality and inspire people from around the world. Our film will be inspired by the motivation of Rocky, the humour of Cool Runnings and the Yorkshire grit of the film Kes.
Yorkshire Grit definition:
‘Yorkshire grit is the hardness of people who won’t be ground down’
From being told that I may never walk again the short film will show how I set goals with commitment, determination and tenacity.
The film also concentrates around three main scouting values which are:
- A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
- A Scout thinks of others before themselves.
- A Scout is always the best that they can be.
These can be used by everybody in every form of life and this film will encourage that.
The film will emphasise the message:
“You can’t control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to what happens to you.”
To make this dream a reality we’re reaching out for help for funding and have calculated that we will need £15,000
The money will go towards the production crew, equipment, location costs the actors and overheads.
Production: 10%
Art/Locations: 30%
Talent: 15%
Food/Lodging/Transportation: 35%
Post-Production: 10%
Synopsis
The film starts with me, growing up as a kid, going through lots of Scouting activities and progressing into a Scout leader.
I’m then involved in a near fatal accident, rushed to hospital and told that I may never walk again.
The rehabilitation phase has my best friend and a young Scout called Carly who support me through the physio and help me by setting goals and working towards them.
The young Scout brings the humour into the film bringing a lighter side into a serious subject of rehabilitation, pain, mental health and accepting and coping with a disability.
The story is of sorrow and laughter with meaningful messages and inspiration and not one but two training montages. With an uplifting and motivating crescendo to the completion of the film. It also has a lead into a possible feature length film…watch this space.
The full story is already being shared globally by myself as he is an international speaker and my autobiography ‘Don’t lean on your excuses’ has been sold around the world.
Various documentaries have been made on my journey and once this film is produced it will reach a whole new audience.
With the strong scouting theme, this film will be shared to over 50 million scouts around the world inspiring them to always do their best.
The film will also be available for everyone else to watch, empowering them to achieve the life that they want to live.
The 15 minute film will be used as a concept piece, to be shared with studios and producers with the purpose of the production of a feature length film.
