Aim

Help us provide hot meals and warm welcomes for asylum seekers, refugees and those who have no recourse to public funds.

There's one day to go on our crowdfunder!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far - we have been able start offering hot meals to our beneficiaries every week. The more we raise the more meals we can offer - each meal is match funded by Co-op. Please help us towards our stretch target in the last few hours!

---

This winter we’re raising money so that when our clients collect their parcel they can also get a hot meal and talk to one of our volunteers in a safe and warm environment.

We’re aiming to raise £1056 to provide 264 hot meal vouchers worth £4 each. That in itself would be quite an achievement, but it gets better. Co-op will match fund every donation up to £250, meaning we can double the amount of hot meals. So if you donate £20 then Co-op will also donate £20.

We’re collaborating with the Real Junk Food Project who run the cafe in the Fitzherbert Community Hub. With a donation of £4, each client will be offered a warm place to rest, receive a hot meal and be given a friendly welcome by volunteers who can offer them guidance on local services and social events.

Our asylum and refugee clients are among the most disadvantaged across the city, often excluded from mainstream services or benefits. We aim to provide long term help while we work to resolve the causes of destitution through our casework and advice team.

Since Voices began operating a food bank in Brighton over 15 years ago, we have never seen such levels of need. We are unable to reach everybody and currently support 30-35 families and individuals (80-85 people) every week with food support and hardship grants.

Food poverty and isolation are acute among our clients so we want to make sure that people can stay connected, keep warm and receive a hot meal when they collect their weekly emergency food and toiletries parcel.

Please share our Crowdfunder so that we can offer hot meals to as many people as possible over the winter months.
