Aim

Help us ignite young people’s creativity to tackle climate change by supporting us to bring the Young Green Briton Challenge to more schools

What is the Young Green Briton Challenge?

The climate emergency isn't a future threat; it’s the reality young people are inheriting. At the Young Green Briton Challenge (YGBC), we believe climate education isn’t enough. To change the future, we have to give young people the tools to build it.

Our high-energy design workshops turn secondary school students into innovators. Working in teams, students tackle real-world challenges, ranging from fast fashion to biodiversity loss, clean energy to waste. They design and prototype solutions before pitching their ideas "Dragon’s Den" style to win investment and bring their concepts to life.

Their solutions are impressive - diverse, creative and actionable. Projects include:

  • SustainInhale: A biodegradable, refillable asthma inhaler, inspired by a team member’s personal experience with asthma.
  • Bouncepadz: A kinetic floor pad that transforms everyday footsteps into clean electricity, inspired by a science lesson on renewable energy.
  • Team Deforestation: A student-led transformation of a barren patch of school wasteland into a thriving, biodiversity-boosting community garden.

How do we know YGBC works?

In just 4 years we have worked with over 27,000 young people from over 100 state schools, special schools and alternative provision.

  • 83% of students enjoyed taking part
  • 79% felt more hopeful about their ability to tackle climate change
  • 80% developed critical skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and active listening

“I learnt - don’t be a sheep, be a shepherd. Also the fact that since we are children we can use so much creativity to help our world.” Student

“It brings joy to learning and gives young people agency to become changemakers.” Teacher

We know that whilst talent is universal; opportunity is not

With school budgets tighter than ever, it’s impossible for most schools to run such activities without outside funding.

We’re aiming to raise at least £10,000 to help bring the YGBC to 10 special and state schools in Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, East Anglia, the Sussex coast and beyond, empowering 2,000 students in underserved communities to become the green innovators of tomorrow.

Where the money goes:

£15 (Doubled to £30) provides a seed-funding grant for one student team.

£50 (Doubled to £100) funds an industry expert to support YGBC.

£250 (Doubled to £500) delivers a climate innovation workshop for 100 students

Join the movement. Help us bring hope. Support the Young Green Briton Challenge today.

Why your support matters today:

The Power of the Multiplier: Aviva is matching every donation you make. Your contribution is doubled instantly, reaching twice the number of students

Scaling Success: We have grown by 100% for two years running, reaching 13,000 students this year alone. We have the roadmap; we just need the fuel to reach more schools.

Proven Results: 100% of our teachers recommend the program, and 79% of our students report learning skills that will help them in the future.

Your donation doesn't just fund a lesson; it funds inspiration and hope.

P.S. We also need industry experts to facilitate, mentor and judge - if you want to lend your skills later in the year, get in touch!
