Aim

A relay ultramarathon completed by Yeovil Hospital staff, money raised to support of Tirop’s Angels to unite against gender-based violence.

The Project - At a Glance

Who: Team of NHS staff from Yeovil Hospital.

What: Values-led Endurance Project finishing with our Flagship Relay Ultramarathon from Land’s End to Yeovil Hospital. One runner at a time. One GPS tracker passed like a baton.

When: June 19-21st - the Week of the Summer Solstice.

Where: 400km to cover. Traversing Cornwall, Devon, Somerset. Finishing at our partner pub - The Bell Inn, Yeovil from noon 21st June.

Why: Every step taken in support of Tirop’s Angels to unite against gender-based violence - by developing a centre-of-excellence providing safe housing and educational facility to teach survivors career development skills to give themselves autonomy over their own life.

Why are we running?

This project grew out of a belief that survivors of gender-based violence are the true endurance athletes and that this physical challenge can be used as a tool for something bigger — to support opportunity, protection, and hope for young people who deserve it.

Over 400km of trail running will push the team to our physical limits. When you’re tired, exposed to the elements, and reliant on others, what matters becomes very clear.

Endurance has a way of stripping things back to it’s honest basics and can be used as a shared language, bonding us here in the UK with our friends over in Kenya.

Who we’re supporting

In 2021, the late Agnes Tirop, set the 10,000m Women’s World Record before being murdered by her husband in a tragic example of gender-based violence.

@v_legit1 and her fellow athletes said that gender-based violence must stop and they made it their mission to set about meaningful change with the founding of our partner charity @tiropsangels.

With rounded insight into the issues surrounding gender-based violence, they have multiple mechanisms of education and prevention, support and empowerment and in justice - covering medical and legal fees of survivors.

If we can raise £350,000 would develop an entire safe-house centre of excellence that adds as an educational training centre for survivors teaching them skills to give them autonomy over their own futures - including in technology, hairdressing, cooking.

We are using running and endurance as a shared language to amplify this voice and set the record straight money donated to this Crowdfunder will be
