A quick look at today's news headlines paints a grim picture of a weary world: war, turbulence and despair is all around us.
Yet as Christmas draws near, we hear the words of a much-loved carol, which proposes an alternative vision for the world:
We believe that words are not only a dream -- they are a call to action.
We believe there is always hope, no matter how weary our world.
We believe that, when we come together, we kindle hope.
We believe hope grows when we share it with everyone, in particular those who need it most this holiday season.
For over 10 years, the Community of Sant'Egidio has hosted a Christmas dinner for older and homeless friends. This year it will once again take place in the beautiful church of St. Cuthbert’s in Earl's Court. We hope to provide home-cooked meals, gifts, and friendly company to almost 200 homeless, older, and marginalised people who come through our doors. We dream of bringing welcome as many people as possible: a thrill of hope in a world where the odds may seem against us.
Your donation will go towards making a delicious home-made meal, providing music and entertainment, and offering a personalized, wrapped gift for each and every guest. Because everyone deserves to be merry at this time of year!
