Aim

To expand my workshops to support the whole community at reduced rates. Ensuring every career has somewhere to go where they feel supported.

I started my love for working with children in my late teens where after completing a BTec National Diploma in Nursery Nursing I worked as an Au Pair in America for two lovely children who are now in their 30s and make me feel very old, I am still as close to them today as I was 20 years ago

On returning from America I couldn’t settle into University and felt the need for more travel so I went from training to be a Primary School Teacher to joining the Army!!! I only intended to do 3 yrs in the Military, however 3yrs soon turned into 5yrs which turned into 10 and before I knew it, 20 yrs had gone by and I was at the end of my career. During my time in the Military I worked within the Royal Military Police, mainly within the world of Child Protection and teaching at the Military Police Training School. Challenging, rewarding and fulfilling I learnt so much from my time in the Army but celebrated the day I became a civilian and a full-time mum.

After spending the past year enjoying life as a civilian, I decided to find a job which I would enjoy and which would allow me to spend time with my own family. That’s when I came up with the concept of running multiple baby workshops for the local community, which soon grew into the idea of providing workshops for all ages.

Having moved into Nansledan housing development last year, I was taken back by the overall sense of community support and cohesion. With many young families moving onto the development, I want to be in a position to provide all parents with a space where they can relax with their little ones and meet other parents from the area, or for older children to have somewhere for them to learn a new skill, giving parents a bit of "me time" and for the Adults, a place to meet others and get creative. My aim is to grow my workshops to support every career, from parent to partner caring for their loved one. All of the workshops will be a minimum of 2 hr to ensure that no one feels rushed and their will always be time for  Coffee (Hot Chocolate for kids) and cake. I want to help children develop from birth through their school years. I know that life as a new parent isn’t always a bed of roses and I want to help support families to prevent isolation and unnecessary pressure that we all put on ourselves.

Where am I now – We have just put the finishing touches on our new studio with sensory equipment and space for my baby massage and yoga workshops. I am full of ideas for new classes and activities that I want to set up for my local community, my ethos is inclusion for all, I therefore want to keep prices low and offer free Coffee & Cake to everyone who walks into the Studio.  I am raising funds to help get my new business started and allow me to run a variety of workshops at reduced rates for members of the community and local charities.  I have ideas of additional equipment which would be beneficial for both parents, children and careers, making the studio even more welcoming and relaxing for all. The more money I raise the more sessions I can run at reduced rates.
