Aim
Raising funds to bring Pride back to Weston-super-Mare — creating a safe, inclusive celebration for the whole community.
Who we are
We’re a small group of local volunteers working to bring Pride back to Weston-super-Mare.
Most of us are LGBTQ+. Some of us are allies. All of us care about making sure Pride here is safe, welcoming and properly run.
Pride hasn’t happened locally for a few years, so we’re starting again from scratch — building a team, putting the right plans in place, and making sure we do this responsibly.
Why we’re doing this
Pride is about more than a party. It’s about being visible, feeling safe, and knowing you belong — especially in a smaller town.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen a rise in negativity locally, particularly towards LGBTQ+ people. That makes spaces like Pride even more important.
We want to offer something positive in response: a calm, well-organised event that brings people together and makes it clear that everyone deserves to feel safe and welcome in our town.
What the money is for
Even a volunteer-run Pride costs money. There are things we can’t avoid if we want the event to be safe and accessible.
Funds raised will go towards:
- Safety measures and stewarding
- Accessible toilets and facilities
- Equipment, infrastructure and insurance
- Volunteer training, safeguarding and welfare
No one on the team is paid. Every donation goes into making the event happen.
