We are raising funds to erect fencing around our pitches to protect them from anti-social behaviour and damage inhibiting training and matches.
PROTECT OUR PITCHES FOR THE FUTURE WIGAN ST JUDES ARLFC
We have been subject once again to anti-social behaviour by a group of joy riders who repeatedly damage our pitches which leads postponement and cancellation of training and games thus disappointing our large playing contingent.
WHO ARE WE
We are an amateur Rugby League Club located at Parsons Meadow in Wigan and offer our facilities for both males and females to participate in Rugby League from the age of 3 upwards in contact sport and those from the age of 35 upwards in a non-contact version of the game. Some of our players become stars of the great sport of Rugby League to name some but a few – Harry Smith – Tommy Makinson- Junior Nsemba – James McDonell
We are looking forward to the biggest year in the history of the club. We are running more teams than ever before including a Women’s and Girls section. This year we are hoping to have over 500 registered players thus we need to keep improving not only our facilities but to ensure that our pitches are safe to play and train on and to improve them moving forward.
We have a modern clubhouse which caters for all members and a function suite available for use for a wide range of events. On sight we also have a gymnasium which is available for members of the club and the local Community. There are 5 grass Rugby League pitches and a 3G all-weather pitch available.

WHY ARE WE CROWDFUNDING?
Recently our pitches have been subject to anti-social behaviour from small groups of the Community who take an opportunity to use our playing fields as a playground to ride their quad bikes and motorcycles on thus causing damage that for health and safety reasons inhibits our training and postponement of matches. We have a responsibility to all our players to make sure our pitches are safe. With approval from Wigan Council and the support of local councillors we wish to install an eco-friendly boundary fence to stop access to these pitches that the intruders use. Obviously, this comes as a heavy cost to the club but is totally necessary. We have already secured partial funding from the Rugby League Facilities Trust and the Wigan Brighter Borough Fund but still have a shortfall to complete this £30,000 project.
Help us hit our target
In February 2025 we will be launching our Crowdfunding Campaign by Bringing People Together and challenging all our members, teams, their friends and family, as well as local businesses and the local community in general to support the club to enable us to complete this project and protect our pitches for the foreseeable future.
How we’ll Spend the Money Raised
We need to install 520 linear metres of 2metre high fence with 565mm mesh coated in green to block access points to our pitches and protect them from future damage. To do this we also need to realign a pitch and clear undergrowth from certain areas. If our donation exceed our target we will renovate our 3G pitch and provide more equipment for our teams .
Community Impact
Our club help person from the age of reach their full potential in the sport. Our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond the field. Every player, regardless of their gender, background, or belief, is encouraged to thrive and excel. We are one club GOING FORWARD.
