Aim: WRKHERE wants to change the way the world works by bringing women who work from home together

Hi, I’m Danielle, founder of WRKHERE.

I am hoping to raise £18,618 by the 6th December  for the development & build of my app WRKHERE.

WRKHERE will enable women who are working from home to

  • Book local laptop friendly spaces to work from
  • Receive member perks at the venues (free coffee/cake) etc
  • Connect with other solo workers to co-work with

There is nothing else like this on the market for women who are working from home and we know this is needed by so many.

Shortly after I had my first son I set up my own business, so I have been working from home for the past 5 years.

It was a bit of a novelty at first, being able to work in my pyjamas, switch on the TV if I needed a break and popping to the kitchen to make endless cups of tea….

But after a while, I started to feel really lonely & isolated, I certainly didn't miss the commute but I craved that separation between home & work life, everything just felt blurred.

So I decided to search for places I could work from but it was near-impossible to find openly laptop-friendly places online and many of the websites that curate lists of places tend to be London-centric or cater to a more formal working scenario for corporate meetings and teams.

And so, you end up back in Costa where there’s dodgy wifi, sticky tables and often too busy to get a decent table.

Over time I formed relationships with local independent cafes, restaurants, and hotels, and organised co-working meet-ups for other women who were like me, desperate for connection & a change of scenery.

When I wasn't running the co-working meet ups, I was constantly being asked if I knew of any nice places to work from during the week and I just knew there was something in this.

I noticed that women who don’t have access to a dedicated office space face a unique set of challenges that often go unnoticed and ignored by corporate companies and some fixed-location co-working spaces.

Because an inspiring place to work shouldn’t be the thing that holds women back

So I wanted to do something about it....

Introducing WRKHERE

The first and only app designed specifically for women who work from home to find + book in at laptop-friendly venues where they can not only be productive but also connect with other local solo workers in their local community.

We want to change the way the world works by bringing women who work from home together

WRKHERE will offer a directory of work-friendly venues local to you wherever you are in the UK, specifically curated for WFH women with bookable hourly or day passes for WRKHERE members

You see, it’s usually pretty ambiguous whether that cute local coffee shop will welcome you and your laptop with open arms, a stable WiFi signal and access to a plug socket.

(And anywhere that does openly advertise this is usually full before you’ve even managed to drag a brush through your hair in the morning.)

That’s why WRKHERE exists, to help women who don’t have an office space unchain themselves from the kitchen table, escape from Costa, and access spaces where their WRK life can thrive.

Because there are enough barriers in the way for working women and we believe that access to inspiring spaces and supportive communities shouldn’t be one of them.

Who is the app for?

Women who work on their own/work from home and don’t have a dedicated space to work from

WRK HERE is perfect for women who work from home but miss the co-worker coffee breaks and find silence distracting.

Including:

  • WFH women
  • Female founders/entrepreneurs
  • Freelancers
  • Corporate women who work from home
  • Hybrid workers
  • Kitchen table workers
  • Costa coffee workers
  • Travelling across the UK workers

Just because you work on your own, doesn’t mean you have to work alone.

It’s time to leave the kitchen table behind and connect with the places and people that support your WRK Life.

Our mission with WRKHERE

Our mission is to combat the isolation working from home brings

Creating access to spaces that are not only conducive to getting work done but also where you can feel welcome and connected to those around you in the form of meet-ups, co-working & events.

Right now, there are women across the country who given the opportunity, would revolutionise the world of work and business in their own unique way.

But they can’t, because the cards are stacked against them. They are isolated, without access to inspiring places to get stuff  done that works around their lifestyle.

WRKHERE is here to change that. But change doesn’t just happen, it’s created by people like you.

 Why support the campaign?

By supporting this campaign, you’re supporting not only your own future - but the future of the next generation of women and girls.

Become part of the growing community of WFH women who are changing the way the world works for the better

To create change you have to act, but you don’t have to act alone - the power is in the collective action of those who stand together

Development of the APP

If the campaign is successful (fingers crossed) then WRKHERE will launch first in Hertfordshire where we already have relationships with venues which will enable us to get feedback from users and make it the best possible product it can be. Then we will roll it out across the UK, one town at a time.

  • PHASE 1 - CURATING PLACES - Spring 2023

Phase 1 of the app will give you access to local places you can book in advance and work from

  • PHASE 2 - CONNECTING PEOPLE - Summer 2023

Phase 2 of the app will allow you to seek out other solo workers in your area to connect & co-work with

Why just for women? (I'm glad you asked)

A big part of WRKHERE is the community we are creating, giving women access to spaces to work with the intention of re-addressing the gender imbalance in the workforce and entrepreneurial space.

The reasons for this imbalance are complex and unlikely to be solved overnight, however we know that when there is a commonality of experience within communities, a high degree of psychological and emotional safety is created. In turn, this encourages community members to share more authentically and expressively, a key factor in personal wellbeing.

It’s important to remember that positive action is not the same as discrimination.

Why crowdfunding?

Did you know, less than 1% of UK venture funding goes to all-female teams*

and female-led businesses receive less funding than those headed by men at every stage of their journey*

Part of our mission with WRKHERE is to change the inequality women in business and the workplace face.

Which is why we are launching a Crowdfunding Campaign to help reach our first stage of development to get the App out into the world and connecting women with inspiring people and places.

And we want YOU to be part of this journey with us.

Before launching this product I wanted to test out the market to see if the community want it, so crowdfunding seemed a great way to do this and get some of our early adopters and users on board so they can help shape the development of the app to be the very best it can be.

Support the campaign  (pretty please)

In exchange for your pledges, we're offering some unbelievable rewards which you can see here. Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting partner rewards coming to you over the next 30 days of the campaign so there will be plenty for you to choose from.

FAQs

Q. What happens to my pledge if the campaign is not successful?

No money will be taken if after 30 days the campaign hasn't been successful

Q. Can I pledge without receiving a reward, is that still allowed?

Yes, if you don't fancy one of the rewards but you still want to support this campaign (thanks my the way) then you can just select how much you wish to pledge under "no reward"

Q. Can I pledge for someone else?

Absolutely! Just make sure you put their details in the delivery details section when you pledge.

Q. Can I pledge anonymously?

Yes, you can opt to hide your name from other supporters list by ticking the relevant box when you make your pledge. Don't worry, we will still be able to see your details. If you are pre-ordering a reward as a gift, this is a great option.

Q. Can I pledge on more than one reward?

A. Yes, Absolutely, in fact many of our backers are doing this, you can choose as many rewards as you like. (The more the merrier right?) You will need to make a new separate pledge for each reward. If you get stuck, you can message [email protected] for help.

Q. Is delivery included?

A. Yes. All pledges include postage & packaging costs. Please note that shipping is within the UK only.

Q. What will the money raised be used for?

Good question, the bulk of the money (about 85% of it will be used for the development of the app, design & build for both phase 1 & 2. Then I have legal costs & contracts with the venues, registering the trademark for WRKHERE, crowdfunder support and fees for using their platform.

Thank you for reading this far, I truly appreciate ALL pledges no matter what size and if this campaign is successful (fingers and toes crossed) I am excited to get this app built for you!!

Let's do this!!!

Danielle xx
