WBCC is looking to raise funds to help cover losses due to Covid-19. The funds will be used to enhance our outdoor training net facility.

Worplesdon and Burpham CC is a friendly local club providing opportunities for all ages to participate in community cricket activities in a safe, effective and child-friendly manner. The club was established in 1999. We are a Clubmark accredited club and are affiliated to the Surrey Cricket Board. We have two sides that play in the Fuller's Brewery Surrey County League and one Sunday side that plays in the Village County League. Our Worplesdon and Burpham Bulls play in the Midweek Surrey Slam T20 Cup Championship and due to increased interest in T20 matches we have entered a second side, Worplesdon and Burpham Wildebeests in the Midweek Surrey Slam T20 Plate Championship this year.

Like most cricket clubs the income to the club was greatly reduced due the truncated and Covid regulated 2020 season. Reduced matches and restrictions eroded the match fees and bar profits that we rely on to cover running costs of the club house and maintenance costs for pitches and other ground facilities. We organise an annual quiz night in the village community hall that has been a major fundraising event for us in the past but we have not been able run this in 2020 and 2021. Our plans to build an under-10 team to enter the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship was also jeopardised due to the imposed Covid restrictions on training events we normally run in partnership with Burpham Primary School.
We are looking to use the funds raised from our crowdfunding campaign on a number of planned improvements to the safety and quality of our club house, ground and training facilities to provide improved cricket activities for our junior and senior members and the wider community we serve.

Repair surrounds and the square by filling in mole holes and cutting back weeds and overgrown vegetation to make our outfield safer for fielding and to improve playing standards, we also believe this will make the ground more attractive to nearby families and for others who come out to spend some time at our ground watching their family members and mates play. We want to clear out the area next to the pavilion to make it a space for families to come have a picnic while they watch their family members take part in the cricket activities during the summer.

The current mobile nets that we own is in a poor state and is also inadequate for combined batting and wicket keeper training. In the short term we will be looking to repair the existing nets. In the long term we are looking to install a fixed cage that can be quickly folded away during ground maintenance.

We would like to replace our existing manual scoreboard at the club with an electronic scoreboard and any remaining funds will be used in part to pay for the new scoreboard.
