Who We Are
Hi, we’re Shari and Max. A former primary school senior leader and a Musician/Quality Assurance Consultant, proudly taking over The Hiding Place on 1 December 2025.
At first glance we might seem like an unlikely business duo, one rooted in education and community leadership, the other a passionate musician with a love for creativity, performance and connection. But together, we share something powerful:
A core value that community matters. A belief that people need places to connect.
Why work from home @ The Hiding Place?
The Hiding Place has always been more than a micropub. It’s warm, intimate, friendly, and filled with loyal faces who treat it as a second living room.
When the opportunity arose to take over this beloved little gem, we knew instantly that we wanted to preserve its charm and gently expand its potential.
Our vision isn’t to change The Hiding Place.
It’s to grow it.
To love it.
To let it become what it’s meant to be: A true community hub for Melksham.
Our Vision for the Future
Starting January 2026, we’re introducing:
- Specialty locally sourced coffee
- High-quality coffee served by us, bringing a daytime energy that currently doesn’t exist.
- Fresh Grazing Boards
- Featuring our signature surprise, plus a selection of thoughtfully curated cheeses and fresh locally source ingredients.
Work From Home Wednesdays (9am–3pm)
A dedicated and unique weekly co-working hub offering:
- Coffee
- Grazing platter
- WiFi, warmth, electricity
- Quiet hour to start the day
- A welcoming space to reduce isolation
This is especially close to our hearts, as former educators, we understand how vital safe, inclusive spaces are for mental health, belonging and motivation.
A Creative Space for Musicians, Artists & Makers
With a musician on the team, we want to create a place where:
Students can perform
Local musicians can host acoustic nights
Creatives can run workshops
Writers, freelancers & makers feel supported
The Hiding Place will always remain a cosy evening micropub, but by day, it becomes a hub of warmth, learning, creativity and connection.

We have purchased the business outright, using our personal savings.
To bring this vision to life, we now need help raising funds for:
