More funding means we can buy more food in bulk like rice, pasta and breakfast cereal which is so desperately needed by our customers.
Woodgate Community Food was set up by a small group of local volunteers in response to the clear hardship suffered by many in our local community, a deprived area of inner city Leicester. The city has been hit hard by Covid and extended restrictions. Many people have struggled to make ends meet through loss of work, isolation and lack of support. We have tried to fill the gap where possible with weekly food parcels including delivery to those who are unable to come in. We also provide assistance and support to help people get back on their feet and access advice, financial help and other services through our connections with local agencies. Earliest this year we took on an empty industrial building and have been transforming the space into a welcoming, safe environment to run the foodbank and other community activities. We are in the process of registering as a charity to enable us to grow and thrive and support our community to do the same. In the meantime, we need your support to keep food on the table. We have reduced our target for this fundraiser as we are finding it hard to reach as many people as we need and our volunteer time is spent on running the foodbank which is as busy as ever. Your donation is still incredibly valuable and much appreciated. All funds will go towards additional food purchasing to enable us to give balanced and nutritious food parcels out.
