I’m running a 10K to fund life-changing support for women recovering from domestic and sexual abuse across Brighton & Hove.
Women Rise Rooted CIC supports women to reconnect - to themselves, to other women, to nature, and to their often-forgotten female heritage - as part of healing from domestic and sexual abuse.
I created Women Rise Rooted not only from over 30 years of working in the Violence Against Women and Girls sector, but from lived experience as a survivor of domestic abuse myself.
Again and again, I saw the same gap.
Women were offered crisis support, therapy, and safety planning - all essential - but very little that helped them rebuild a deep, embodied sense of self, reconnect with life, and rediscover their strength, voice, and belonging.
This is the programme I - and so many of the women I worked with - desperately needed, but couldn’t find.
🔶 WHY THIS MATTERS NOW
We have successfully delivered this highly-evaluated programme for over three years through a local domestic abuse charity. Due to funding cuts, the programme is no longer being funded - but the need has not gone away.
Women who have completed the programme continue to seek connection and community, and local organisations are still referring survivors to us.
We need your support to keep this work alive.
We are also living in a time where women’s rights, safety, and dignity are increasingly under threat. At the same time, many women carry anger, grief, and power that has been silenced for generations.
Women’s voices are not just important right now - they are essential.
🔶 WHAT WE DO
Women Rise Rooted is not only about recovery. It is about reconnection, reclamation, and rising.
Through our 8-week nature-based programme, women come together to:
🔶 THE 10K: WHY I’M RUNNING
To help fund this work, I will be running a 10K.
This isn’t just a fundraiser - it’s deeply personal.
As a survivor, and as someone who has supported hundreds of women to reclaim their lives, this run represents movement, strength, and the refusal to stay silent or small.
Every step I take is for the women rebuilding their lives - and for those who are still finding their way.
