Aim

Our Womens Workshop course is built to support women who’ve experienced abuse, gain basic DIY and tool skills to help aid independent living

Who we are

Co Create is an Exeter founded social business that runs a variety of courses to aid in the recovery of individuals, from all backgrounds. We are a community rooted in a desire to support people in Exeter through the creation of beautiful things.

Women in the Workshop is our most ambitious course yet!

We believe that community is an important part of working, learning and making. By doing things alongside others we can build trust and friendship, and through this sustainable, positive change can take root in Exeter.

We totalled over 5000 social impact hours in 2021 and want to keep this positivity rolling into 2022!

What we want to achieve

One in three women are likely to experience abuse in her lifetime*. Since the lockdowns started in 2020, there’s been a 33% increase in domestic abuse reports, raising overall safeguarding concerns by over 20%, a really significant jump from pre-pandemic numbers. *refuge.org.uk data 2022

It’s our mission this year to play a part in the recovery of women in Exeter.

We believe helping women grow in confidence to complete practical DIY tasks can empower them, help aid their recovery and support independent living.

Each 4-week course will focus on building women’s confidence and independence in completing practical, home-based tasks.

By the end of each course, every woman will receive a personalised tool box full of donated tools, and a practical introduction to...

• Confidently use a variety of hand tools

• Complete DIY tasks

• Design & make a personalised  tool box

What we need

In order to run 10 courses for 100 women over the course of 10 months, we are looking to raise £25,000. We’ve already been hard at work and secured half of our funding goal from some incredible donors and partners - but we need your help.

Any contribution is greatly appreciated!

  • £15 pays for a tool
  • £50 pays for a toolbox
  • £250 pays for an attendees place
  • £2,500 pays for a whole course

What people say about us

“I’ve only been here for three weeks, but it’s been fantastic; I really enjoyed the company as well”

“Working with Co Create has been brilliant. The cabin project has been a tangible bit of hope at the end of lockdown, just as nature comes to life again. The cabin is already taking on a life of its own for our whole community as a meeting and teaching space, and somewhere to be immersed in nature right in the city center. So therapeutic! Thanks team!”
