Provide Berber women with enough funding to preserve their resources, help them enter education and start their own source of income.
How it started
I am a university student who is currently writing her thesis on ‘How the cosmetic industry is empowering women and helping fight gender inequality in Morocco.'
I started finding this topic very interesting when I decided to start my own business in the cosmetic industry.
In the beginning, my primary focus was to create natural and cruelty-free beauty products to help women of all ages discover their natural beauty and the secrets of eternal youth.
However, my mission changed when I discovered how these natural cosmetics were empowering the Berber women of Morocco; by giving them a role in the economy and freedom of movement.
For years and years, we have been working hard by trying to empower women in the business industry when there are plenty of women who do not have a job and are still dependent on their spouse.
Today, my core mission is to provide Berber women with enough funding to preserve their resources, help them enter education and start their own source of income.
The project will help empower women, combat illiteracy and fight gender inequality.
The Start-up
Amazigh Beauty is an E-commerce willing to share the secrets of the miraculous oils of Morocco. These products are the pride of the Amazigh culture and are produced by Berber women who get together and produce liquid golds such as Argan Oil.
Amazigh Beauty plans to sell the oils to anyone who is ready to buy from the comfort of their own home; wants to discover natural beauty and help empower women’s position in the world.
Products
Our products help treat eczema, acne and scratch marks. They protect the skin from UV damage, deliver anti-aging nourishment and calm redness and irritation. They can be used for both hair and skin as they also stimulate blood flow and act against hair loss.
Revenue
Amazigh Beauty purpose goes beyond profit as 20% of the profit goes to building schools and creating campaigns to fight against illiteracy in Western Sahara.
Amazigh Beauty’s Green Model
Our green model is simple. Rather than continuing to manufacture containers for beauty products, we will be recycling and reusing containers that have already been used. After being thoroughly cleaned to remove any residue from the previous products they contained, each container will be as good as new. By applying this strategy to our business, we can continue to use these containers without causing harm to the environment.
Now, while most beauty products are stored in plastic containers, there are some that are stored in glass containers instead. In comparison to plastic, glass is significantly better in terms of recycling. This is because glass is a material that can be recycled very easily, whereas plastic recycling is much more complex.
If we move away from the manufacturing process involved with plastic containers, reuse old plastic containers, and start focusing our attention on using glass containers as the primary container choice, there are nothing but benefits.
What Can Amazigh Beauty Achieve with This Green Model?
By following this simple green model that we have created, we are able to reap the many benefits that it brings. The main benefits are:
Our goal is to adapt our business model and use only recycled containers for our products. We are still in the process of detailing an effective plan for doing this, although we are confident that we will be able to achieve this by December of 2019.
