Aim

To support a crucial community magazine that is struggling to cover its printing costs while the magazine is becoming established!

Wolverley and Cookley Matters Needs You!

Do you love living in Wolverley and Cookley and want to support a local project that is run just for local people! Then please donate to help keep our local magazine running!

Project Aim

I am looking to raise £550 to help publish the next 5 months of this community magazine while it is becoming established. This will ensure the printing costs will be covered and allow us to continue to support our local thriving community.

About Us

Wolverley and Cookley Matters is a free local magazine that aims to provide a platform for local businesses, charities and groups, to promote their services and events to the local people. Alongside promoting local businesses and events, the magazine provides an excellent balance of community news and general interest content. The magazine is hand delivered to 2500 households in the Parish of Wolverley and Cookley; this includes Blakeshall, Kingsford and Caunsall.

Our ethos is supporting local! We are encouraging local people to shop small, use local businesses and join in with local events, thereby helping the community to flourish.

Why We Are Crowdfunding

Since the magazine was founded in 2015, and after a break for maternity leave, the magazine has grown from strength to strength and for many in the community it has become a lifeline for information and events in the villages, particularly those who live in the more remote areas. In fact I often receive emails asking when the next magazine will be delivered or requesting another copy as their magazine has been damaged (usually by pets!). Despite this, most months the income produced from advertising in the magazine has not been enough to cover the printing costs. I am hopeful that the magazine will become self-funding as the interest in advertising is now starting to grow. However in the mean time I am struggling to keep the magazine running financially.

The Facts and Figures

The magazine currently costs around £550 a month to print and the distribution is done for free by myself with lots of help from some very generous friends, family and lovely members of our community. This does not include any salery, the cost of petrol for delivering the magazine, the software for producing the magazine and other general expenses. On average I have needed an extra £100-200 each month to cover the costs of the printing alone.

How Can You Help?

If you would be willing to donate a small amount to help top-up the deficit each month for the printing costs this will help keep the magazine going while it is becoming established. I am looking to raise £550 so I know that next 5 issues of the magazine will definitely go ahead. Everyone who donates will be acknowledged as a supporter of the magazine by having a name dedication in a future issue (for example at the bottom of a page it will state "Supported by Joe Bloggs") - unless you wish to remain anonymous. You can choose to donate any amount of money or, if you are a business who would like to support the magazine through advertising, you can contact me on [email protected].

Testimonials and Recommendations

If you are thinking so far, this sounds good and I would like to help support this worthwhile project but are asking how do I know if the magazine is important to the community? Then below are a small selection of comments and emails I have received;
