Wolfe Tone 5k for Cuan Mhuire
We did it
On 2nd June 2020 we successfully raised £355 ( + est. £36.25 Gift Aid ) with 25 supporters in 14 days

Wolfe Tones GAC is raising money for Cuan Mhuire to help ensure their vital services are protected during covid-19 & the period after.

Wolfe Tones GAC, based in the Greencastle parish between Belfast & Newtownabbey, recently reformed as a GAA club after a fifty year absence from the community. At the heart of this reformation was the desire to serve the community in all facets of civic life - sporting, cultural, community & social.

The club believes that all organisations offering vital services must be protected & enhanced, where possible. Our contribution to this is raising funds for said organisations. Hopefully through this we can make a difference.

Starting next Monday (25th) & lasting the whole week, different senior team players will be running 5k & putting up a short video detailing their activity. Each player will be asking for online donations. Keep an eye out for our players on your travels!

The organisation we are fundraising through the Wolfe Tone 5k is Cuan Mhuire. Cuan Mhuire is Irelands largest provider of residential treatment for those suffering from addictions. Cuan Mhuire was founded by Sr Consilio in 1966 and their centre is located on the outskirts of Newry, at 200 Dublin Rd. At their centre, Cuan Mhuire Newry provides a 12-week comprehensive abstinence based residential addiction recovery and housing support service. Their service is available to all persons (male & female) who are 18+ years of age and suffering from Alcohol/Gambling addiction and who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Cuan Mhuire plays a leading and important role by tackling the joint problem of homelessness and addiction.
