HELP WISTASTON VILLAGE CRICKET CLUB BUILD BRILLIANT NEW NETS IN 2025!!

by Wistaston Cricket Club in Crewe, Cheshire East, United Kingdom

Who are we?

At Wistaston Village Cricket Club, we believe cricket should be for everyone — and everyone deserves the opportunity to play, learn, and grow in the game we all love.

We are an inclusive club with a community focus offering cricket for everyone: All Stars for 5-8 year olds; junior coaching and competitive teams from u9-u13; two senior men’s teams, friendlies and development teams, and ladies softball and hardball teams. We compete in the Cheshire Cricket League, the North Staffs & South Cheshire League, the Stone League, the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League and the South Cheshire Junior League. We have over 150 active members regularly attending the club with family and friends.

Why are we crowdfunding?

In 2025, we are fundraising for a new Two-Lane Nets Facility. Our current practice nets are old and have deteriorated to the point that they are no longer safe to use. We have decided to take on the ambitious project of raising £45,000 to replace the current nets with a facility that will last for many years to come, give us greater scope for more members and squads to train, and support the community via local schools. Through our wonderful members we have already raised £25,000, this gives us the beginnings of an amazing set up; through Crowd Funding we're hoping to raise the remaining £20,000, meaning we can have the best set up for our members and the community surrounding the club, securing an excellent training facility for our members and for many years into the future!

We have an AMAZING junior section at Wistaston Village Cricket Club that includes over 100 children. We offer cricket to all junior age groups from All Stars and u9 to u13. We have 2 senior teams that play on a Saturday, one on a Sunday, a mid week friendly side and a Sunday Development side, and we have a Women's Softball Team and a Hardball Team, with fixtures that run through the Summer and the Winter. We are also looking to develop girls only teams, running taster sessions and training sessions through 2025.

BUT… we only have TWO nets to accommodate all of these players- one very tired side net and a mobile net that can only be used when there are no games- this significantly impacts our players ability to practise and develop.

We need your help!

With your support, we can:

  • 🎯 Develop the Next Generation – We’re passionate about nurturing our juniors into the players of the future, supporting adults returning to the game, and introducing cricket to complete beginners. We’re also working hard to expand opportunities for women and girls, ensuring equal access and a welcoming environment for all.

  • 🏏 Protect and Grow the Game – Our club has a proud history, and we’re committed to building an even stronger future. Quality net facilities mean more coaching, more practice time, and a thriving, active cricket community here in Wistaston.

  • ⏳ Support Every Player’s Journey – Whether you're working on your technique, rebuilding confidence, or simply enjoying the game with friends, everyone deserves time in the nets. More lanes mean more opportunities for everyone to shine.

  • 🧡 Create a Community Hub – This project isn’t just about cricket. It’s about bringing people together, encouraging active lifestyles, and creating a space where friendships are formed and memories are made.

Community impact

Our club is a community club first and foremost. We want to be able to have a really positive impact on young people and adults in the area, and create a facility that will serve our players, their families and the community for years to come.

Our members are mostly made up of residents in the local area and juniors that attend nearby schools.  With matches taking place almost every day throughout the cricket season and growing numbers across all age groups and abilities, it will provide safe practice facilities and greater flexibility to all club members and allow training to take place every day of the week.  We host the Primary Schools Competition each Summer and this will add to the facilities we can offer to those schools.
