WINTERWARMERHUB To continue to provide a warm space, company and free hot nourishing soup and bread for the local community

by Linda MacFadyen in Isle of Bute, , United Kingdom

 New stretch target

With additional funding we can continue provide nourishment and company. The need for food will not disappear when the weather improves, as people after paying for huge power bills will in debt and when government funding ceases, will still need help.

(Will have to change the WinterWarmerHub name to a Spring one!)

Expand the numbers and be able to provide a delivery service to those locals who physically cannot come to the hub.

Employ for a short time a local 'community person' who could identify those people who might benefit from the project but for whatever reason might find it difficult to come and use the WinterWarmerHub

Be able to bring in experts to help the community with advice on how to survive the economic climate.

Linda MacFadyen and the Port Gala team wanted to provide a space, in these difficult times, for the local community to come every Wednesday for some nourishment.

People don’t need any particular reason to come other than fancying some food, some company and a bit of warmth

Everybody is welcome to sit in the heated space and meet other villagers to have a chat, play board games, read, use the wi-fi or just sit by themselves and enjoy the soup

The soup is free but donations, if people can afford, are appreciated so we can continue to help each other
