Winter Workshops

Radical Remedies is a collective of friends, comrades and herbalists whose work focuses on skill sharing theoretical and practical knowledge of plants to support loved ones, social movements and those in need. Since 2021 RR have organised foraging walks, remedy making workshops and weekend long events. We aim to create support networks in collaboration with other groups to harness radical, self-autonomy and promote respect and connection to one another, and with the natural environment. We have worked alongside Solidarity Apothecary to make teas for the herbal solidarity clinic in Ukraine. We've also worked with the Right to Roam collective in resistance to the recently passed Police, Crime and Sentencing legislation, helping to facilitate a trespass walk, where RR spoke about the connection between herbal medicine and land rights. 

Our upcoming project which we are hoping to raise some funding for is a Winter of Workshops. The intention of these are to share skills and knowledge of medicine production, share the work load for larger scale production and distribution of medicines and creating peaceful, community spaces to talk and learn about plants and one another.

Recently we gathered to make large batches of winter warming remedies; immune boosting fire cider and a cough syrup. We will distribute these winter remedy packs, which will also include a blended tea, in January. These packs will be 100% free of cost and will also include written information about the remedies, what they contain and how they are used.

We have planned three more workshops this winter in London's LARC and Bristol's BASE, including workshops for discussing and making medicines on Mental Health, Women's Health and creating our own First Aid kits. 

All medicines are being made for distribution; RR functions on the basis of solidarity not charity so we make decisions horizontally and adaptively according to present need.  Those who partake in workshops are part of the decision making on where the medicine should go, utilising our collective connections to other groups and communities. We aim to support street homeless, migrants, social movements and any vulnerable members of society, making medicines as relevant as possible to the wants/needs groups we want to distribute to. 

We are hoping for any generous contributions to help towards costs of materials to put on these workshops an produce these medicines. Money will go mainly towards; bottes, jars, vinegar, glycerine, sugar, herbs, plants (the ones we buy and cannot forage), logistical costs (transport ect) and printing costs of any literature we make and distribute.
