It has been the honour of my life to represent the Rame Peninsula and St Germans on Cornwall Council for the Labour Party, and I really hope to be returned on the 1st May 2025 for another term.
During the last 3.5 years, I have done my utmost to be a strong voice for the communities here that have been left behind for many years. I have secured funding for the retrofit of all council homes in Millbrook, Kingsand and Cawsand - reducing energy bills and giving people a warm and dry home. I have helped some of our most vulnerable people secure housing, sometimes for the first time in their lives. I have brought motions to Council to ensure that the Council treats care experienced folk with dignity and respect, giving them the status of a protected characteristic, and have helped to expedite the claim for Maker Heights to be designated as a Public Right of Way, ensuring free access across the area for generations to come. Through my community chest I have supported small, local organisations that have struggled to gain funding, and have also supported some of our bigger charitable organisations to get bigger pots of money.
This is just a flavour of what having a Labour representative does for a local community, there is always more to do which is why I am seeking a second term. To elect Linda Dunstone as the Labour Councillor for Torpoint will add to our strength here in Cornwall's forgotten corner - with two Labour Councillors working together imagine the benefits we could bring to this part of the Duchy!
Elections cost money however, and every penny raised through this crowdfunder will go towards campaigning - we will spend it on leaflets, campaign materials, social media advertising and, of course, posters and placards.
