We're still collecting donations
On the 1st March 2024 we'd raised £2,177 with 26 supporters in 35 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Our aim is to Win a Green Future for Reigate and Banstead in 2024. We need to see Greens in power in the Council and in Parliament.

On the 1st March 2024 we'd raised £2,177 with 26 supporters in 35 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
In 2010 Jonthan Essex was elected as the first Green councillor on Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.
Cllr Jonathan Essex (Redhill East ward) explains,
"By May 2022 East Surrey Greens had won 10 more seats coming close to holding the balance of power at the council.
In 2024 we want a massive gear shift - we want to become the largest group at the council.
On 1st February 2024 Reigate & Banstead Council failed to declare a Climate and Ecological Emergency - FOR THE THIRD TIME. With your help, we can change all that. We MUST put Climate Action and Nature Recovery at the core of all that our council does but this cannot happen unless the power shifts urgently.
Residents across the Borough now have 11 hard working Green councillors listening to local people and championing their concerns. But we want to do so much more...
This borough and its people deserve better. We know there are areas where residents feel neglected, we know questionable decisions have been made. We know that Reigate & Banstead should have a council run by hard working councillors who are driven by a need to speak up for people and planet - not councillors bound by national political decisions and hampered by infighting.
It's going to be a lot of hard work, but it will be worth it and we can't achieve it without your support.
To make our ambitious plan happen we will need to raise £10,000!"
Cllr Ruth Ritter (Earlswood & Whitebushes ward) continues,
"This £10,000 is needed to fund a campaign organiser who will help build ward teams and coordinate the campaign. It'll also fund newsletters and campaign materials to get the word out in areas of the town we have never campaigned in. We want to tell residents about our fantastic councillors and how hard they work.
Like Green Cllr Victoria Chester, well known as a passionate campaigner against the blight of sewage pollution and Gatwick expansion."
Cllr Victoria Chester (Horley East & Salfords ward) adds,
"With more hard work and your support, I know we can win big in 2024. We have an impressive array of excellent candidates who, with your help, could join us as our next Green councillors.
Please give what you can.
Unlike other parties, the Green Party does not accept donations from big business. Instead we rely on lots of small donations from people like you, people who know how important our work is and who understand that our area deserves so much better.
Please donate today, whatever you can and share, share and share again.
Together we CAN really make a real difference. Thank you!"

What and why - in more detail…
We aim to raise £10,000 to win a Green Future for Reigate and Banstead. With this money we can hire a part time campaign manager. We can campaign more for the local and general elections and break through in Tandridge. We can print and deliver more leaflets, have more meetings and knock on more doors. The Greens already have already done so much in Reigate and Banstead. We have been the second party in local elections since 2019 and have an active and energetic local party. But we need more money so we can elect more Green Party people to positions of power and win a Green Future in 2024.
We live in a beautiful part of the country. We are surrounded by the hills and forests of the Surrey Hills, with lots of wildlife. This picture shows the beautiful Banstead Downs. Yet all of this is under threat from building, road projects and commercial development. We aim to protect the Green Belt while providing genuinely affordable housing. We currently have 13 councillors sitting on the borough, county and town councils in the area. They are all working hard to protect the environment we live in but they could do so much more if they were in control of the local council.
You can get more Green Councillors elected in Reigate and Banstead.
Here in Reigate and Banstead we are lucky. We are better off than most. Many areas of the country cannot hope to reach our levels of income and home ownership.
But we need to look closer. Even here there are more than 25,000 households that can be seen as deprived.
Many people struggle to make ends meet or access public services. They have to choose between heating and eating. There are families who can't get a doctors appointment within 2 weeks or a dental appointment at all. They survive day by day when all they need is a bit of advice here, support there, or just a helping hand to move forward in life.
A Green council will put focus on areas that will help those families. They can direct resources to those struggling to find that first step and remove barriers that block access to public services. We understand that sometimes things go wrong for people through no fault of their own. We try to provide options for those with the greatest needs.
With more councillors we can directly help more people. We can guide council policy decisions to achieve fairer outcomes for all. We aim to make life better for those who struggle.
By creating a fairer borough, everyone in our community benefits, whether they need help or not.
You can build a fairer society with the Greens.
Our planet is heating up. Bit by bit we are damaging our only home. The Green Party is the only party that has Climate Change at the top of its agenda. But to make a difference, we need the right people in power. Help us to elect Jonathan Essex as our MP for Reigate and Shasha Khan for East Surrey. Help us to elect them so they can be our voice and the voice for our planet.
You can play your part in protecting the planet
P.S. Because we're a political party
We're required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to general campaigning funds.
