Aim

Our aim is to create a clubhouse for Windsor HC at Windsor Girls School.

What are we trying to do…

Windsor Girls school have agreed to refurbish the old gym and changing rooms into a clubhouse, bar, kitchen and changing rooms for use of Windsor Hockey Club, however their is a funding gap of £45k so we’re asking you to help us build our clubhouse by donating to the club through buying a brick.

England Sport have agreed to give us £15,000 if we raise £30,000 ourselves… so please help us in raising £30k for what will become the vibrant, social epicentre of our club.

Who are we?

Windsor Hockey Club is a not for profit, CASC registered, thriving, inclusive community club at the heart of Windsor. We provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get active, build friendships, and be part of something bigger.

We’re especially proud of our grassroots focus:

  • Free hockey sessions for 4–6 year olds, helping young boys and girls take their first steps into sport
  • A vibrant youth section of over 150 juniors
  • 5 women’s teams and 4 men’s teams competing every weekend
  • A growing vets community, keeping people playing and connected for longer

We partner with local schools including Windsor Girls’ School and Eton College to use their pitches—but despite our growth, we don’t yet have a place to truly call home.

We’re more than a sports club—we’re a community.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Right now, Windsor Hockey Club has no clubhouse.

After matches, instead of coming together as a club, players and families are forced to disperse or rely on a local pub for post-match teas. With permit parking restrictions and limited space, this significantly reduces social interaction—the very thing that makes grassroots sport so powerful.

It also creates:

  • Ongoing costs for hiring venues and catering, without these costs we can make hockey more affordable for local families
  • Barriers for families with young children to stay and engage
  • A missed opportunity to build a stronger, more connected club community

We’ve been given an incredible opportunity to change this.

Working in partnership with Windsor Girls’ School, we plan to transform a disused, derelict sports hall into a vibrant, multi-use clubhouse for the whole community.

This project aligns strongly with funding criteria focused on:

  • Increasing participation in sport
  • Supporting women and girls’ activity
  • Strengthening community infrastructure
  • Creating inclusive, multi-generational spaces

How we’ll spend the money raised

We are committed to being fully transparent about how funds will be used. Every pound raised will go directly into creating a sustainable, long-term home for the club and wider community.

Planned investment includes:

  • Refurbishment of the existing sports hall
Structural improvements to make the building safe, modern, and welcoming
  • Changing rooms and shower facilities
Essential for supporting growing participation, especially for women and juniors
  • Kitchen and match tea facilities
Reducing ongoing costs and improving the matchday experience
  • Clubhouse social space with bar area
Creating a central hub for players, families, and supporters
  • Family-friendly area
A dedicated space for children, helping parents stay involved in sport
  • Pitch improvements at Windsor Girls’ School
Including maintenance contributions, dugouts, and spectator seating

This isn’t just a short-term fix—it’s a long-term investment in the future of sport in Windsor.

Costs & fundraising to date

We have developed a clear, costed plan to deliver the clubhouse in summer 2026, working closely with Windsor Girls’ School and local suppliers.

Based on early quotes and scoping work, we estimate the total refurbishment cost to be in the region of £55,000–£65,000, with a working budget of £60,000.

Indicative cost breakdown:

  • Building refurbishment & structural works: £20,000–£25,000
(making the space safe, watertight, and fit for purpose)
  • Changing rooms & shower facilities: £10,000–£12,000
(essential to support women’s and junior participation)
  • Kitchen & servery area: £6,000–£8,000
(to provide affordable, sustainable matchday catering)
  • Clubhouse social space & bar setup: £7,000–£9,000
(creating a welcoming hub for players, families, and supporters)
  • Furniture, fittings & family area: £5,000–£6,000
(including seating, storage, and a dedicated children’s space)
  • Pitch-side improvements (dugouts, seating, maintenance contribution): £5,000–£7,000

We are actively working to reduce these costs wherever possible by:

  • Securing volunteer labour from skilled members and the local community
  • Partnering with local businesses for discounted materials and furnishings
  • Phasing non-essential elements where appropriate

This ensures that every pound raised delivers maximum impact.

Fundraising to date

We have already made strong progress toward our goal.

  • £20,300 raised through member fundraising, events, and community support during 2025
  • A further £2,000–£3,000 in pledged in-kind contributions (labour, materials, and discounted services)

This demonstrates both the commitment of our members and the strength of local backing for the project.

Our target

With the opportunity to deliver the project in summer 2026, we are now accelerating our fundraising efforts.

  • We are targeting an additional £18,000–£22,000 through:
    • Member contributions
    • Local fundraising events
    • Community and small grant funding

This would bring our total to approximately £40,000.

To complete the project, we are seeking £20,000 in match funding to close the remaining gap and make the clubhouse a reality.

With your support, we can turn a disused building into a thriving community hub—ready for the 2026/27 season.

Community impact

This project will have a lasting impact far beyond hockey.

It will:

  • Provide a safe, inclusive space for over 150 junior members
  • Support the continued growth of women’s sport locally
  • Help retain adults in sport for longer through improved facilities
  • Create a welcoming environment for families, especially those with young children
  • Strengthen partnerships with local schools and the wider community

The clubhouse will become a shared community asset—supporting school use, grassroots sport, and local events.

At its core, this is about bringing people together—tackling isolation, improving wellbeing, and building a stronger Windsor community.
