Since launching the business 4 years ago we’ve gone from strength to strength, receiving over 10,000 5-star reviews and multiple Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Foods; the highest accolades possible for a food producer.
In fact, we’ve grown so quickly that we’ve run out of room to make any more pies.
But fear not; we’re moving to a much larger purpose-built bakery later this year which will see us make up to 30,000 pies a week!

MOVING TO OUR NEW HOME
We are rapidly running out of space in our North Yorkshire-based bakery and that's a problem, because we know there are a lot more people who need to experience all the joy that great pies have to offer.
To meet the ever increasing demand for our pies, we're relocating to a new site a few miles up the road which, at 22,000 square feet, will allow us to produce over 3 times the number of pies that we can in our current bakery!
But that's not all. The extra space will mean we can develop our pie range and bring you more of the pies you love, along with new and exciting flavours long into the future!
While the factory in its current condition is a great place to start, a good chunk of work is needed to bring it in line with our requirements and you can see from the photos below that turning it into our dream home is going to be no mean feat!
And this is why we need YOU!

We work with some amazing Yorkshire farmers and food producers who also care greatly about what they do. As our business grows, it will help theirs to grow too, building resilience into our local food network and directly supporting British farming and food production – something we’re passionate about and something the supermarkets don’t always do.
Here are some of the fantastic local farmers we work with. Without them, we wouldn't be able to bring you the best tasting pies around.
ANNA'S HAPPY TROTTERS
Based in the hamlet of Kilpin near York, Anna Longthorp of Anna’s Happy Trotters is a fourth generation farmer who’s family have bred pigs for the last 30 years.
Their piglets are born outside and once weaned, reared in large and airy straw barns. In 2007, they decided to go the whole hog (sorry, couldn’t resist) and become fully free range, meaning the pigs would live outside from start to finish.
Surprisingly, only 1 – 2% of pigs are reared this way in the UK, but there’s good reason for that – to maintain the highest welfare standards, farmers required the right sandy and free-draining land; something that’s extremely scarce in Yorkshire, which is why there aren’t many free range pigs to be found.
HERB FED POULTRY
Based in Easingwold near York, Edward Wilkinson of Herb Fed Poultry rears truly free range birds that are fed on a forage diet, supplemented with over 10 varieties of fresh herbs from his Aunt's nearby farm.
Proud farmers of award winning Chickens, Bronze Turkeys and Rooster, Herb Fed have been recognised for their pioneering farming techniques and, by maintaining the highest possible animal welfare standards and enhancing their diet with fresh herbs, they produce birds with a flavour that's difficult to beat.
HAMBLETON BREWERY
Hambleton Brewery was born in 1991, when Nick Stafford decided to start a brewery at the bottom of his in-laws' garden. Armed with nothing more than a pair of wellies and some old steel tanks, Nick built his brewery from the ground up. And why did he do this? Simply because he wanted to make great beer.
Today's demand has meant a move out of the garden and into a purpose-built brewery all of 50 metres from the Yorkshire Handmade Pies bakery, which is especially handy as we use their stunning Nightmare Porter Ale in two of our pies!
So whether you are drinking one of their much loved cask, keg or bottled beers, or trying one of the monthly specials, you can be sure that you are drinking a beer of outstanding quality, brewed with real passion by people who just want one simple thing - to make great beer.
BUT WHAT MAKES A GREAT PIE?
At Yorkshire Handmade Pies, we make pies to invoke memories and celebrate the tradition of this great British dish, while developing new flavours that give the pie a fresh, modern twist.
REAL BUTTER PASTRY
Our shortcrust cases and puff pastry lids are made using real butter, to give a melt-in-the-mouth buttery taste and crisp texture.
SLOW COOKED FILLINGS
Our pie fillings are cooked for 5 hours, then rested overnight to develop even more flavour.
RIGOROUSLY TASTE TESTED
5 members of our team rigorously taste test every batch of pies. Although we use standardised recipes, we test constantly to ensure our pies cook, cut and taste as good as they should, time after time.
FILLED TO THE BRIM
We use a special depositing machine to make sure every pie has the right level of filling. No pie is left behind.
PACKED WITH FRESH INGREDIENTS
Our pie fillings are made with fresh ingredients. Fresh meat, fresh herbs and fresh vegetables.
PERFECTLY BALANCED FLAVOURS
Our pie recipes are designed to be perfectly balanced. Many pies taste bland because they aren’t properly balanced and rely heavily on high salt and fat levels. Ours are more nuanced in flavour.
LOCALLY SOURCED MEAT, FROM LOCAL FARMS
From pasture reared beef and outdoor-reared pork to free-range chicken, all our meat is sourced within Yorkshire and mainly from farms within 30 miles of our bakery.
FROZEN TO LOCK IN FRESHNESS, NUTRIENTS & FLAVOUR
All our pies are flash frozen so when you cook them, it’s the first time the pastry has been baked, giving them a much fresher taste and aroma.

Free delivery is available on orders that are over £40 after the 15% discount has been applied.
All single-box orders will incur a delivery charge of £5.95. The most efficient way to use the discount is to purchase 2 or more boxes. In this way, once the 15% code has been applied, the order will always exceed £40.
**DELIVERY RESTRICTIONS
All of our products are delivered using temperature controlled packing and therefore we must supply all our customers within 1 day of dispatch.
Unfortunately, we can't deliver to the following postcodes due to our courier being unable to deliver to the area the day after dispatch:

- There can only be one winner of the main prize draw for £5,000 in holiday vouchers.
- The holiday voucher will be issued only once the winner has been drawn, and will be valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
- The main prize draw rewards and associated pie discounts are open to UK residents, aged 18 and over only.
- Each reward includes a 15% discount code to use against a set number of pie orders, but delivery restrictions within the United Kingdom mean we are unable to fulfil orders to certain regions. Any residents of the United Kingdom located in a region that we cannot deliver to are still able to purchase rewards for entry into the main prize draw, but will not be eligible for the associated 15% discount code.

- Donation amounts can be customised before payment is taken, and the number of entries you receive to the main prize draw will depend on the amount donated.
- The minimum donation for entry into the main prize draw is £10.
- Entrants may donate as many times as they'd like. Simply choose a pre-populated donation amount, or enter a custom one, then complete payment.
- The winner of the £5,000 holiday vouchers will be chosen at random via a prize draw.
- The winner of the £5,000 holiday vouchers will be contacted by email within 5 days of the closing date and their name will be announced on Yorkshire Handmade Pies’ social media. (Facebook: Yorkshire Handmade Pies | Instagram: @yorkshirehandmadepies).
- The winner of the £5,000 holiday vouchers will have 28 days to respond and confirm they wish to accept the prize. If they do not respond within 28 days of the initial email being sent, the next winner will be chosen at random and emailed within 5 days.
- If the winner chooses not to accept this prize then we will choose another winner at random.
- Closing date for reward entries: THURSDAY 15 AUGUST.
- Yorkshire Handmade Pies reserves the right to extend the closing date for entries dependent on the number of pledges received. Should we exercise this option, all relevant updates will be communicated at the top of this page (the Yorkshire Handmade Pies Crowdfunder campaign page).
- If for any reason, the prize cannot go ahead, all refunds will be processed by Crowd Funder within 28 days of the 'closing date' and the prize draw will be deemed unsuccessful.
