Earlier this year Butterfly Conservation partnered with British luxury footwear brand Sophia Webster on a new collaboration to create two designs that would help raise awareness and funds for threatened butterfly species.
The result was two limited-editions of the brand's iconic Chiara sandal, one based on the Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary and the other on the Adonis Blue.
The Adonis Blue Chiara sandals have sold out, but Sophia Webster have kindly gifted us a pair of the Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary Chiara sandals in size 38 (UK 5) – worth £595 - and a signed print of the sandals sketch for this special prize draw, with the winner able to choose which prize they would like.

The Chiara Sandals:
These sandals - available in a size 38 only (UK size 5) - are inspired by the Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary, a highly threatened species that is endangered nationally and has suffered a severe decline of -76% since the 1970s in the UK. Proceeds from the sale of these shoes have gone towards Butterfly Conservation’s Limestone Lepidoptera project, which is helping protect this species, along with seven other endangered species across the Yorkshire Dales national park.
The Signed Print:
As an alternative to the Butterfly Conservation collaboration sandals, you can choose to own a print of the sketch, signed by Sophia herself.
Where is the money going?
Any proceeds raised from this prize draw will go to Butterfly Conservation to fund their vital conservation work to protect butterflies and moths - one of the most endangered groups of wildlife. With support from people like you, Butterfly Conservation has successfully brought species back from the brink of extinction.
About the Sophia Webster x Butterfly Conservation Collaboration:
Sophia Webster, famed for her butterfly appliqué shoes, approached wildlife charity Butterfly Conservation after becoming aware of the decline of British butterflies.
Wanting to give something back to the species whose wings have been a constant source of inspiration, Sophia decided to create two new designs of her iconic Chiara sandals, based on real-life species, with proceeds going to a project working to protect them.
She said: “When it came to my attention that an alarming number of species were in decline, I realised that I could take positive action to avert this crisis whilst showing my gratitude to this fragile yet inspiring creature.”
This project successfully funded on 26th August 2021
