The Prize
This is a fabulous metal sword decorated by our artists Mike Kelly and Dave Palser. It has been used as a prototype for photos and concept art for Arthur's sword for the upcoming film Excalibur (see www.excaliburfilm.com).
It feels authentic and fantastic to hold! It comes with a handwritten letter of authenticity from Director Dan Freeman.
This wonderful prop would normally be stored now that we no longer need it, but we'd rather someone enjoyed it - and this way all the proceeds can go back into the film.
Note: The sword isn’t edged, but it is not a toy.
The Quest
The story of King Arthur was forged in Wales, and our upcoming film Excalibur reclaims its legacy for the country. The great founding fantasy of the king who was and will be, the wizard, and the magical sword has been reinterpreted so many times that we forgot where it came from. Only the people and places of Wales can bring this film to life!
We want to show fantasy fans across the world the rolling hills, ancient forests, leaping cataracts and castles they long for. We want to invite them to a magical place that exists—not just a film set that looks like the fantasy world. We will use a majority Welsh cast, crew, and suppliers, and involve local communities in crowd scenes and battles.
Because the film will be the first in a series, we intend to create an enduring legacy that will nurture the next generation of creatives. This film will be an investment in building on the strong artistic heritage of the country.
We believe there has never been a better time to tell this epic story. It is an opportunity to celebrate the culture and mythology of Wales, played on a global stage. We intend to create an artistic masterpiece that is also an international blockbuster.
