Help Musicians is charity that loves music and offers support to music creators in times of crisis and opportunity - ensuring musicians across the UK can achieve their creative potential and build fulfilling careers. We have been working hard for over 100 years to make a meaningful difference to the lives of musicians in the UK, be that through providing expert career advice, opportunities to connect with other musicians and professionals in the music industry, or through vital health support. Alongside our life-changing career development opportunities, the health and welfare support offered by Help Musicians has been a lifeline to many. This balanced approach is unique – no other music charity offers the same breadth of support across creativity, business skills, and health and welfare.
The Proms are incredible events and the variety of exceptional talent offers something for any music lover to enjoy. How often when immersing yourself in the joy of music, do you stop to think about the performers on stage and their journey to that moment? The path from starting out as a musician to performing in a historic venue such as the Royal Albert Hall is fraught with challenges that go far beyond mastery of a craft. Years of study are required and fees to train to such a high level of performance are high, and too expensive for some. So much of the world’s exceptional musical talent has derived from the UK and it is vital we do everything we can to support the careers of the next generation of performers to see them on the world’s stages.
"If it weren’t for Help Musicians’ support, my Proms performances wouldn’t have happened. I didn’t come from a musical background, so performing at the Proms was something that always seemed like a dream for other people and not for me. The freedom I was granted by the charity’s support was life-changing." - Beth Taylor, supported to pursue postgraduate study

"Help Musicians feels like this beautiful safety net. If my health deteriorates, I know who to phone for help, whether it’s counselling or financial support. I would say they have probably heard it all, the worst of the worst, but they also know from experience that small things can have a massive impact on being a musician.” - Constant Follower, singer-songwriter
"Help Musicians have been so helpful to see creative ideas through and to support possibilities to develop my professional practice." - Preetha Narayanan, violinist
"The support enabled me to have more time to practice and fully engage with my coursework." - Sarah Dhillon, supported during postgraduate studies in Jazz Piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
