The Prize
We are privileged to offer this extremely rare Jeroboam (300cl) of Chambertin, Grand Cru 2002 from one of the finest producers in the Côte d’Or - Domaine Ponsot. Grand Cru wines from this region are world renowned for their complexity, depth and ageing potential. 2002 was an excellent vintage for pinot noir wines made in this region. The Chambertin vineyard produces some of its greatest wines, year after year.
Produced from a tiny 0.15 ha parcel of vines planted in 1961, this exceptional Grand Cru has consistently demonstrated elegance combined with rich, exotic and spicy nuances. The resulting wine was bottled in tiny quantity for the Domaine's library stock.
Jeroboams were never commercially released; however, a small number of such large formats were made available exclusively for the Jubilee auction to mark Domaine Ponsot's 150th Anniversary held by Christie’s in Geneva in 2022. This Jeroboam was acquired at that auction by its kind donor for almost £3,000.
"Complex and wild red fruit aromas with plenty of earth, game and roasted coffee notes merge into tight, nicely pure, sappy and extremely intense flavors that are not especially concentrated but do offer exceptional persistence, all supported by refined and ripe tannins. This is the best Ponsot Chambertin in some years." Burghound, Jan 01, 2004
"Domaine Ponsot is one of the most highly regarded Burgundy wine producers with a long history going back to 1872" Edwin Vos, head of Christie's international wine and spirits department.
The Cause
Nordoff and Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. Through the power of music, it breaks through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability, and social isolation. The charity does this through providing music therapy to people across the UK, whilst also training the music therapists of the future and funding research to measure and improve the impact of its work.
Music therapy is the act of making music collaboratively, and it can help people with all kinds of conditions: from autism to dementia, learning difficulties to brain injuries, life-limiting illnesses to mental health issues, grief, and trauma.
Nordoff and Robbins music therapists use the power of music to create space for people to express themselves and find connection in society.
