I am raising funds for the Wells Skatepark by skating a timed Marathon at Castle Combe circuit, in full Ice Hockey Kit, pads and all
Hey, I’m Will, thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
On Sunday 16th August 2026, I'll be taking on one of the biggest challenges I've ever attempted – skating a full marathon (26.2 miles) around the iconic Castle Combe race circuit as part of Go-Skate 2026.
Most sensible people tackling a skating marathon aim to be as light and aerodynamic as possible. I have decided to do the exact opposite.
I'll be completing the entire marathon wearing full inline hockey kit – helmet, elbow pads, padded gloves, hockey socks, shin pads... the lot. It's going to be hot, heavy, uncomfortable and, if we're being honest, probably a little ridiculous. At 1.85 miles per lap, I'll need to complete over 14 laps of the circuit dressed as though I'm about to play a hockey match instead of skate a marathon.
Why? Because I'm raising money for Wells Skatepark.
Wells Skatepark is a little worn out and needs a huge makeover into a fantastic community facility that provides a safe, welcoming space for people of all ages and abilities to skate, ride and socialise. It will be somewhere that encourages people to get active, learn new skills, build confidence and become part of an incredibly supportive local community. Every donation will help support the development of the new skatepark.
I've spent plenty of time on hockey skates, but covering 26.2 miles in full protective gear is a completely different challenge. It's going to test me physically and mentally, and I'm expecting plenty of aching legs, sore feet and questionable life choices before I finally cross the finish line.
If you'd like to sponsor me and support Wells Skatepark, I'd be hugely grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, will help support an amazing community project and give me a little extra motivation to keep skating when the pads start to feel even heavier than they already do.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you're able to come along on the day, I'd love to see you trackside. With any luck I'll make it all 26.2 miles without needing to test just how effective all that protective equipment really is!
