Wildflower & Tree Planting with Devoran School

Aim
This is a joint project with Devoran School we would like to plant an overgrown patch of land near to school with wildflowers & trees
As part of a joint project with Devoran School, Climate Emergency Group and Wellbeing project we would like to plant an overgrown patch of land near to the school with wildflowers and trees. This patch of land is overgrown with brambles and we have permission from the school to clear it, preserve the trees currently on it and plant new trees and wildflowers in conjunction with the schools new gardening club.
We would like to plant the following on the new wildflower garden area:
• 2 x Cornish apples – Ben’s Red
• 2 x Hillieri spire cherries
• 3 x Flagpole Amanogawa cherries
• Wildflower annual bed
• Wildflower perennial bed (foxgloves, pink campions etc.)
The cherries have been chosen as they will attract early pollinators. We have deliberately chosen Cornish apples (Ben's red) and hope that these will bear lots of fruit for the community to pick and enjoy. The annual wildflower beds will be planted by the school children and then each year they can collect the seeds, grow new plants and then plant them out again in the Spring. The perennial wildflower bed will consist of foxgloves, pink campions oxeye daisies etc. The Parish Council has also recently allocated some additional money for more Cornish apple trees near to the garden on the walk up to the school so this will be in addition to the new wildflower garden area.
