Improve community facilities for all users of the club.

Wigton Rugby Union Football Club is a volunteer run, multi-sports club, with over 500 members, including many juniors, playing rugby, squash, hockey, cricket, football and racketball as part of club activities.
In addition, there are many others taking part in sports and recreation activities within the club's facilities such as fitness classes and line dancing. The facilities on offer at the club include rugby, cricket and Astroturf pitches. The main building features a gym, squash courts, fitness session rooms, changing rooms and spectator grandstand. There is also a cricket club house and main clubhouse which features a bar and function room.
The club aims to be an integrated home for team sports in the Wigton community, whilst rugby remains at the heart of the club, the benefits of sharing facilities with others has been recognised and utilised for many years.
As a hub for community sports, Wigton RUFC brings people together and improves community health.

We need to renovate and improve the clubs shared facilities!
The effects of Covid 19 and the enforced closure of facilities was financially crippling for everyone. All sports clubs suffered and struggled to return to 'normal' in the wake of the pandemic. Prolonged closure followed by reduced number of activity participants was a great strain on club funds.
Thankfully, our community has backed us, players have returned and the club is now thriving again. But with hundreds of people using the facilities each week - wear and tear takes its toll and costs a great deal to put right.
There are big projects which we are committed to tackling in the near future, such as renovation of the AstroTurf pitches. But there are also lots of smaller projects which we need to address now, to bring the club back up to and above the standard our community deserves.
We hope that the crowdfunding appeal will be supported by Sport England, if we can raise 60% of our target with more than 100 contributors and our project suits there funding priorities - they will may contribute the remaining 40%!

This Sport England programme is a Covid-19 pandemic recovery fund, helping sport and physical activity organisations to move forward with priority projects and running costs that they might still be struggling with.
We aim to raise a total of £14,000 in 6 weeks of crowdfunding, made up of £8,400 from club supporters like you and £5,600 matched funds from Sport England.
Obviously, if we can smash that target - there is plenty to spend the money on. So we have a 'stretch target' of £16,000.
Check out the list of rewards available from hampers and vouchers to specific business support. These have been provided by the club or donated to us by some of our awesome local business. Rewards are offered as an incentive to encourage you to pledge funds to the campaign, they offer businesses the opportunity to promote there services or products and they are a great opportunity to grab a bargain.
Keep an eye on the list as rewards will be added throughout the campaign. If you would like to offer additional rewards, please get in touch.
Funds raised through this campaign will go towards the renovation and improvement of club facilities. Some of these might not sound too exciting, but they are vital to the club and will save money long term which allows us to reinvest more of our own funds in the future.
Specifically, funds raised here will contribute to:
Complete the gym, squash courts and astro turf pitch's security, fire and access systems project. As well as improving security this will allow us to increase the opening hours of the facilities to club users.
Improve the plumbing and heating system in the gym building so that it is safer, more efficient, and the showers are always warm!
Improvements and renovations in the changing rooms, showers, grandstand and outdoor areas.
Where possible, volunteers at the club will do work themselves making your money go further. When external contractors are required we will do our upmost to use local trades people and keep costs in check.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! Bag yourself some goodies in return for your generosity by claiming pledge rewards.
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind Wigton! The more people we reach, the more support we will get. Please use the hashtag #Wigtonclubhub
3. If you want to run your own fundraiser to support us, maybe a sponsored activity or similar, use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
4. If you run a local business, you could offer pledge rewards which encourage others to support the club. These could include gifts, vouchers or percentage discounts. You can give one reward or multiple - contact Ryan and we'll set everything up ([email protected])
