Aim

🏊‍♂️ Wigan BEST aims to raise vital funds in 2026/27 to support our swimmers, develop talent and help the club go from strength to strength

Wigan BEST Swimming Club is a community-focused competitive swimming club based across BeWell sites in the Wigan Borough, supporting swimmers from junior development through to county, regional, national and international competition.

We are proud to be more than just a swimming club. We provide young people with the opportunity to develop their swimming, build confidence, learn discipline and resilience, make lifelong friendships and discover just how far they can go.

Our swimmers, coaches, volunteers and parents work together to create a positive, ambitious and supportive environment where everyone can Be Excellent, Strive Together.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Competitive swimming is an increasingly expensive sport. Pool time, coaching, competition entry, equipment, travel, training camps and development opportunities all come at a significant cost.

For the 2026/27 season, we want to raise funds to help Wigan BEST continue to provide the best possible opportunities for our swimmers, while keeping the club accessible and sustainable for families.

Our fundraising will help us invest in swimmer development, coaching, training opportunities, equipment and activities that bring our club community together.

We want every swimmer at Wigan BEST to have the opportunity to reach their potential — regardless of their circumstances.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Every pound raised will be reinvested into Wigan BEST and our swimmers.

Our fundraising target will help us support:

🏊 Swimmer development – additional training and development opportunities

🎓 Coaching & education – supporting the continued development of our coaches and volunteers

🏋️ Training equipment – investing in equipment that improves the quality of training

🏆 Competition & performance – helping swimmers access competitions and opportunities to progress

🤝 Club development – activities that strengthen our club community and support our volunteers

💙 Accessibility – helping ensure financial barriers don't prevent young swimmers from participating and progressing

We will be transparent about how funds are used and celebrate the difference your support makes to our swimmers.

Community impact

Wigan BEST has a positive impact far beyond the swimming pool.

Our club brings together children, young people, families, coaches and volunteers from across Wigan and the surrounding area, creating a supportive community built around sport, teamwork and personal development.

Swimming gives young people important skills that extend well beyond competition — confidence, commitment, resilience, teamwork and self-belief.

By supporting Wigan BEST, you are helping us provide opportunities for young people to be active, develop their potential and be part of something they can be proud of.

Our ambition is to build a club where swimmers can progress as far as their ability and commitment will take them, while ensuring that the experience remains positive, inclusive and enjoyable.

How you can play your part

There are lots of ways you can help Wigan BEST reach our fundraising target and make a real difference to our swimmers:

1) Make a pledge. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference and helps us invest directly in our swimmers and club.

2) Spread the word. Share our Crowdfunder with friends, family, colleagues and your social media network. The more people who hear about Wigan BEST, the greater our impact can be.

3) Are you a local business? We'd love to work with you. You could donate a product, experience or voucher that we can offer as a reward to supporters — and we'll give your business a shout-out in return.

4) Fundraise for us. Take on your own challenge for Wigan BEST — a sponsored swim, walk, run, bake sale or something completely different! Get in touch through the 'Contact project' button and we'll help you get started.
