Wideopen Wellbeing provides a regular warm and welcoming space to meet with others in the community, and enjoy tea/coffee and cake
Wideopen Wellbeing is a Warm Hub hosted by St Columba's Church Wideopen. It is staffed by volunteers from the church and the community. It provides a warm space, refreshments (tea, coffee and cake or biscuits) and activities - ranging from newspapers for browsing, puzzles, craft activities and more...

Wideopen Wellbeing meets in St Columba's Church Hall. It provides a reliable place to enjoy meeting others, and to keep warm without worrying about your bills. People enjoy tea / coffee and cake, as well as activities, and a small food shelf provides items which people are welcome to take to keep them going.

We have been lucky enough to receive some support (£500) from the local authority towards heating costs and materials up to the end of February, but we would very much like to continue and expand our offer. Heating bills are likely to increase and with the varied weather of recent times, we are all likely to continue to face higher bills. We are generally dependent on the generosity of our regular givers, more than two thirds of whom are retired. We also know that some older people in the community find it hard to travel to our session, especially when the weather is poor. We would like to be able to afford local taxi fares for them. Though we offer tea, coffee and cake, and a food shelf stocked with donations from our members, we would like to be able to offer soup or sandwiches to those attending.

For every £10 we raise, we envisage spending around £6 on heating costs and materials, £2 on taxi fares and £2 on an extended food offer.
