Our story starts in 1984 when Jago, our founder, started home brewing in his dormitory while away at boarding school in Scarborough. It all started after watching The Great Escape, where the prisoners made moonshine from potatoes. Moonshine was a step too far, but wine was possible, so a trip to the homebrew section in Boots was in order and his home brew journey commenced. In secret the ingredients were mixed and put in the demijohns even outwitting the housemaster by hiding the demijohns in the roof void; luckily, they were never found, but in the dead of night, you could hear them bubbling away.
This sparked a passion for home brewing which has continued throughout his life with everything from cider to beer, wine to mead.
As his children became adults, they too started to show an interest in his home-brewing antics, which eventually led to the question, "why don't we try to make spirits?".
So after a lot of research, pain, planning and testing (or should we say sampling the product), eventually, the first Wicstun Gin was born.
Soon after, the main flavours started to evolve, and our hobby naturally turned into a family business.
The distillery is run by our family Jago, Lisa, Emily and Alex. We all get involved will all aspects, from recipe development & distilling to bottling, and sales.

In 2021 we started the process of licencing and registering as a distillery and finally, in March 2022, we were delighted to become the first fully licenced distillery based in Market Weighton, East Yorkshire.
Our next venture was to expand our coverage and start trading as Applecross Distillery in the highlands of Scotland in December 2022. This is a place which is very close to our whole family and somewhere we love spending time.

Since then, we have gone from strength to strength with many new flavours in the pipeline.
To take this venture to the next stage, where we can start to grow the business, enabling us to employ staff, we need some help.
As a family, we have put our hearts and souls into this venture, but we now need help to raise the funds to turn our dream into a flourishing business.
We have purchased all of the equipment to develop, distil and bottle up to 1500 bottles per month. The recipe development is complete, and our customer base is growing. But to take this to the next stage, we require a significant cash injection to enable us to develop our brand image and enable us to focus on marketing and sales. Unfortunately, this all takes time and money.
This is where you come in; every ticket purchased enables us to move one step closer to realising our dream
Please support our project by buying a ticket.
Good luck, and thank you for your support.
