Why this book — and why now 🤔
Screens are everywhere. Laughter isn’t. (Thanks geo politics, wars, cost of living, not so social, social media and screen adidction📵🤣) Why Did The Chicken? is a small, joyful book that gives families a reason to put devices down and reconnect. It’s for ages 4–8 and built to do more than get giggles — it helps children practise language, memory and public-speaking skills 🗣️ while having the kind of proud, real-life moments parents love. ❤️
What the Chicken Club does 🐔
Every copy makes a child an instant member of the Chicken Club! Members get printable Certificates 📜, Challenge Sheets, and a Badge Tracker that turns joke-telling into a progressive, confidence-building adventure. Kids learn jokes, perform mini shows, teach friends, and through your help earn "feathers of honour" aka badges 🏅— parents award the badges as “Tests Passed.” It’s screen-free 🚫📺, social, and it spreads by kids sharing with friends. 🤝
Who we are 👨👦👦
I’m J.K— dad of two (Theo & Barney), full-time family chaos manager, and author of this book. The Chicken Club grew out of dinner time joke sessions in our home. Seeing my boys smile and grow in confidence, even using their incredible imaginations to create their own jokes, (What is the fastest bottom in the world? A Formula Bum Car! Created by a 6 year old!!) inspired me to write a book that other families could use to create those same magical moments. ✨
