Aim

Help us install heating, insulation and an accessible toilet to keep Whitmore Cricket Club active all year round.

Who are we?

Whitmore Cricket Club is a thriving community cricket club based in Staffordshire, providing opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to participate in sport.

Founded in 1894, the club has grown significantly in recent years and now supports over 300 members across junior, senior, women’s and girls’ cricket. We are particularly proud of our growing women and girls’ section, our commitment to disability cricket and our role as a welcoming community hub.

Our facilities are used not only by cricketers but also by families, volunteers, community groups and disability organisations throughout the year. Everything we do is driven by volunteers who are passionate about creating opportunities for people to be active, connected and part of their local community.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are launching our “Keeping Whitmore CC Active All Year” project to transform our clubhouse into a warm, accessible and inclusive facility that can be used throughout the year.

Currently, the clubhouse has no insulation or heating, making it difficult to use during the colder months. This limits opportunities for members and community groups and prevents some activities from continuing through winter.

The project will install insulation and heating throughout the clubhouse and create a fully accessible toilet. These improvements will allow us to continue supporting disability groups, improve accessibility for all users and provide a welcoming environment for our growing women and girls’ section, junior members, volunteers and the wider community.

A key beneficiary will be our partnership with On Track Care, who use our facilities regularly during the cricket season but cannot continue during winter due to the lack of heating. This project will enable year-round access and help reduce social isolation within our community.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The total project cost is £30,000.

The funds raised will be used to:

• Install insulation throughout the clubhouse
• Install a heating system
• Construct a fully accessible toilet
• Complete associated plumbing and electrical works
• Purchase building materials and fixtures
• Deliver final decoration and finishing works

We are seeking £15,000 through Crowdfunder and matched funding, with the remaining £15,000 being raised through club fundraising.

To maximise the impact of every pound raised, skilled club volunteers will provide significant support with plumbing, electrical and construction works, reducing contractor costs and ensuring more funding is invested directly into improving the facility.

Community Impact

Whitmore Cricket Club is far more than a sports club. We are a community hub that brings people together.

The project will benefit over 300 club members, including junior players, senior players, women and girls, volunteers and families. It will also support disability groups, community organisations and local residents who use our facilities throughout the year.

By creating a warm, accessible and welcoming environment, we will remove barriers to participation, improve accessibility and ensure people can remain connected to their community during the winter months.

The addition of an accessible toilet and year-round facilities will help make Whitmore Cricket Club a place where everyone feels welcome, regardless of age, gender or ability.
